“Best Courtyard I've ever stayed at!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I was so impressed with this Courtyard - I can't say enough good things about it! I'll be honest, I didn't make the reservations and have no idea how much we paid, so I am not evaluating this for 'value for the money' but it's a Courtyard - I can't imagine it was much more than any other one. The little Starbucks bistro served a great breakfast, and even the evening drinks were fantastic. I loved the layout of the lounge and the lobby. It was quick, efficient, friendly, and inviting. It was certainly hipper than any Courtyard I've ever seen. The rooms were spacious and well laid-out, and the bathroom was perfect. The only issues I had during my stay was that the gym was full between 6 and 7:30, so I had to wait for equipment (longest wait was only 10 mins) and there was quite a bit of sand in the tap water - so much that when I arrived there was sand in the bathtub, and the next day, after I brushed my teeth, there was a ring of sand in the sink. So don't drink the tap water. (Sand in the water is new to me, yucky tap water at a hotel is pretty normal.)

All-in-all, I say this is a fantastic hotel! I was really impressed!

“Service was awesome, lobby was beautiful, but rooms need updating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

This Courtyard Marriott is wedged in a business park, surrounded by high-tech firms and near a couple of small businesses that cater to lunch time seekers during business, just as you would expect it to be. (Don't' expect the nearby restaurants--Subway, Rubios, etc. to remain open during evenings, especially weekends.)

The staff was fantastic--very friendly and always helpful. One even helped my husband and I with the big multi-media map and printed off directions to Torrey Pines for us. On our morning departure another staff member found the restaurant we were looking for in Del Mar (for a lovely brunch) on the registration computer and printed out directions for us.

The lobby is updated like all the other Courtyard Marriotts--looked pretty identical to the one in New Orleans where we were just a few weeks ago.

The rooms are clean, but it's time for an update. The wallpaper seemed a little outdated and there could be some nice touches to updating and decorating (taking lessons from what they did to the rooms at the New Orleans property--those were nicely decorated rooms). The shower/tub didn't drain (we were up to our ankles in water) but hey, they probably didn't know about that so I let the management know when I left so they could get it fixed. They person who I told was so apologetic he offered me a free coffee or juice and I said that wouldn't be necessary.

I'm sure the property has probably got its rooms on the list to get updated. But overall, the mattress is still very comfortable (and I'm VERY picky about my mattresses), everything worked in the room, and it was very clean.

“Clean, comfortable quality hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

I have stayed at this hotel 10+ times and have been pleased with each stay. The staff is very friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable and the breakfast is great. Most of my trips have been for business in the area, but I have returned for a couple of personal vacations because of the quality of this place.

The location isn't sexy, but is close enough to downtown San Diego, La Jolla attractions and not too bad of a drive to LA.

“Good place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We spent 2 nights here, with 3 rooms. Tommy, at the front desk, was great checking us all in with at least 2 calls holding! Rooms were clean and comfortable. Location is great - we were 30 min from zoo and across the street from a Karl Strauss pub!
I did find that the bathroom needs a bit of an update with a rocky toilet and slow moving drain in tub. I also asked that someone clean the back middle entrance - both days there was something spilled in front of door and bird poop around - while it was not cleaned while we were there - Tommy assures me it would be cleaned!

“Marriott Courtyard: North on 805”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

Nice hotel close to the 805 off Mira Mesa. Lobby was recently redone, which is nice with a food area for purchase. Also, some booths have their own TV. Pool and spa, unfortunately was too cold to go in. Property was in nice shape. Their were two large mattress trucks parked on our side of the property which made it difficult to park near our room. Seemed to be abandoned, they were empty and just sitting there. Difficult to back out because of this. Also, rear entrance is chained off and there is only one working entrance to the property which difficult to enter if you turning left across traffic. There is no turn lane and near a light.
Good pricing under $100 per night if you are willing to prepay.
