My boyfriend and I just spent 4 days at this hotel and we both had a great time. When you first walk in, you see this beautiful little waterfall with a pond of fish. The property grounds were properly maintained and very picturesque. They also kept the beach front groomed every morning. They had a pond with ducks - some species we have never seen before being that we are from MI, clean pool and hot tub right by it, and different types of Parrots which you see when going to your room(s). My boyfriend and I especially like using their gym - which was located right next to the spa – which has top quality equipment. Our favorite part about it was we could work out outside! Although I didn’t get the chance to take advantage for their spa, the area was clean and warming with very friendly staff. Our room (Deluxe King Bed) was on the 12th floor in the tower. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable; it was hard getting out of bed in the morning. Our room came as describe on their website - full size ironing board, full size closet, flat screen tv, iPod docking station (my favorite for my iphone), hairdryer, etc. Although we didn’t get a room with a bay view our view of the Pacific Ocean AND the city was breathtaking. My boyfriend and I would stand on our balcony and watch the surfers do their thing in the morning and watch the sunset in the evening. Our goal for our trip was to explore San Diego and stay at a very nice hotel which was both accomplished!
Some negatives about the resort:
1. We stayed at the 12th floor on the tower and the first day we stayed there we didn’t really get hot water (I was pissed) BUT I discovered that if you ran the water for at least 5 minutes the hot water was consistent. So the rest of the time, we didn’t have problems with the hot water.
2. Water pressure was okay. My water pressure at my house was MUCH BETTER!
3. Their restaurant (The Atoll) was too pricey for our taste and the waitresses were slow in service. They had a guy there that was like sort of their assistant which he did a much better job in customer service.
4. Had to pay for parking at $13/night for self parking and $16/night for valet. It’s ridiculous they make you have to pay for parking even though you are already paid to stay there!
Room Tip: 1. If you prefer the bay view, stay at the tower with the last 2 room #s that’s odd (i.e. 1249, 1139...
