“Downtown location, very comforable bed, noisy outside at night”

The location is right in the downtown, very convenient to all shops and restaurants, but evening music is heard till 2 am. Parking is a bit expensive at $29; although it is efficient. The building is new and well-maintained. There is no restaurant or pool on premises. There is a fitness center, sauna, and steam room downstairs. The rooms are very nice, spacious, have soft beds, duvets, and kitchen. We had a balcony, other rooms have larger windows instead. As a time-share place, they offered us to meet to discuss it rather in non-pushing way. We declined and they did not bother us again - pleasant surprise. The hotel has free internet of very good speed and free DVDs, books, and magazines for rent.
I certainly recommend it as long as you are ok with mid-night noise.

“A great location for the Gaslamp Quarter and Public Transportation for everywhere else in San Diego!”

Wyndham Harbour Lights was a great location for our tourist stay in San Diego. We were within walking distance of all the great restaurants in the GasLamp Quarter, as well as shopping and Seaport Village. The location is also perfect for picking up the great public transportation that San Diego has to offer to get to all the different interesting parts of the city. We stayed in a studio and it was quite large for a hotel room in the Quarter. A very clean and well decorated room with a comfy bed and pullout couch (also a comfy bed)! The little kitchen was perfect for our needs and well stocked with the supplies we needed for the week. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating, willing to help with whatever necessary. If you are looking for a good downtown location, with access to public transportation then this is a perfect place to stay. If you have your own car, you will have to pay $29 a night for the valet to put it in the garage.

“Great place to stay.”

Wyndham Harbour Lights is in the Gaslmap (downtown) district. We had a studio, and for the three of us was comfortable (however the kitchenette was small). We heard no noise from the street.

Importantly, the staff was excellent. They were all pleasant, and extremely helpful. We were at the front desk constantly asking questions and they were more than willing to help with directions, information, advice. I believe they have the best customer service. They do have a fitness room/steam bath and sauna.

The only negative I would say is they don't have a pool or a restaurant or a small gift shop, however, there are dozens and dozens of restaurants within a three block radius as well as a 7-1-1 and CVS a block away. And a Macy's and downtown shopping area are two blocks away.

They are also very clost to the trolley,

Would recommend this hotel

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

This was my first time in San Diego and I had a wonderful time! Harbor lights was more than I asked for :) I have stayed in 3 other Wyndham properties and this was by far the best and most updated one. Large comfy bed, convinant kitchenette and we were lucky enough to have a mini balcony facing 5th street views. We had a great time! The staff are very nice and helpful and the exercise room was perfect as well!!! By far the best property I have stayed in.

Some eating suggestions: We got the best salmon and steak ever from Lou and mickeys down by the water ...it is pricey but worth every penny! We also did the sights and sips sunset cruise with hornblower and that was great as well...again pricey, but great sights and we met some really fun people along the way.

San Diego is my new favorite place!!!!

The only suggestion I would have for this property is that there wasn't much space to unpack our clothes, luckily my boyfriend didn't care so I got to use all the closet space, but had he cared it would have been tough!

Definitly recommend!!!

“Great 1st time in San Diego”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

I've been a Wyndham owner for about 5 years and I recently stayed at the Wyndham Harbour Lights in July for ComiCon. The hotel is located near any and every thing that you would possibly need. I would not recommend parking at this location, because it does cost $26 a day; besides the area is filled with buses, trolleys, cabs and pedi-cabs. Most restaurants and stores are within walking distance so there's really no need for a vehicle unless you're going far out of the area, even Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo are a 10-15 minutes bus ride away.

The staff was very friendly, polite and helpful, and the hotel was very clean. Being that the area can change a bit at night, the doors do lock at 9pm and you have to use your room key to re-enter; but most of the time the doorman is outside to let you back in. This is a not a place if you plan or relaxing in quiet surroundings. Luckily enough I stayed on the 7th floor in the rear of the hotel so I was not subjected to the loud noises like other guests. The view sucked but I wasn't there for that.

If I do decide to attend the convention next year or just to revisit the area, I will definitely be staying here.

Just a reminder that all the rooms are studios with a kitchenette, except for a single one bedroom room; which I hear is pretty hard to get. But all the other rooms have a queen size bed with a sleeper sofa. I stayed there with two other people and there was more than enough room. No one was bumping into each other or invading each other's space.

FYI - if you're easily bothered or not a fan of homeless people and pan-handlers, I definitely suggest a different area because they're tons of them in the Gaslamp District.
