Friendly helpful and informative welcome. Unusually we had to pay up front. Nice room with a comfortable bed. Breakfast is as advertised. Every other b&b gave us some type of cooked breakfast which we personally preferred as it prepared us for a busy day of site seeing.It is $5 for an all day bus and trolley pass.

Hillcrest House was the best ever. Rooms are nicely decorated and very clean. Innkeeper, Ann, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Breakfasts were buffet style with muffins, juice, toast, cereal, fruit and of course coffee. This was our first time to San Diego and definitely not long enough to see everything. We will be returning next year and will stay at Hillcrest House again. Our experience with B&Bs is fairly extensive in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio and Hillcrest was second to none. Tim and Sandy M

Very cute early 20th century house, clean, comfortable, great location, perfect service, good breakfast. Ann is very kind and helpful in fulfilling all your needs and make everything easy. Quiet neighborhood but very close to Downtown San Diego, restaurants etc.

Ann Callahan treated us like honored guests at her cozy B&B. The location is terrific - a two minute walk to University Ave. and the Hillcrest area's many restaurants, and less than 10 minutes driving time to San Diego's Balboa Park. We were able to easily drive to many San Diego attractions, including the Zoo, Petco Park, the harbor and Mariner Museum, Coronado Island, and Cabrillo National Monument. Ann gave us great suggestions for restaurants to try nearby and and in La Jolla, and for wineries to visit in Temecula on our way back to LA. Her ample breakfasts, complete with fresh fruit and homemade muffins, gave us a great start each day. The accommodations were very comfortable and quiet. Off-the-street parking made it very easy for us when returning from our busy sightseeing days. We will happily return next time we make the trip west,
