“Glad we stayed here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We are two adults age 50+. We wanted to stay on Point Loma to be close to our sightseeing options. We wanted free parking, a good breakfast, and hopefully WI-FI, all at a decent price. This place was great for us. We even got a free newspaper every weekday. We stayed just over a week. We started our day with a good choice of breakfast foods, cold cereal, hot cereal, hot eggs, sausages, chilled hard cooked eggs, plus beverage choices. We generally left for the day after breakfast to do our sightseeing. We would eat our lunch out enjoying the variety of cuisines avaialble in San Diego. We would return to our room and find it a wonderful retreat from our busy day. We could enjoy cable tv, reading our paper, or using our laptop. We slept well. I am a light sleeper; my partner is not. I slept thru the night well. I could not hear people in other rooms, and the traffic was definitely not an issue. The bathroom is small, but clean and has everything you need. During our stay the rooms got flat screen tv's, which we totally liked. We found the staff friendly and very attentive. We would stay here again if we come back!

Room Tip: We liked being on the second floor close to the patio. The pool is on the main level which was one...

“Positives outway the negatives”

We chose this inn primarilly because of it's cost (comparible to other options & factoring free parking) and location - it is within 10 minutes of the airport and convennient to freeways. This inn is not a choice for light sleepers: the inn is right on North Harbor between 2 busy intersections and traffic noise is constant. We prebooked 3 nights the first part of our vacation, travelled to LA, then returned for 2 nights. Both times we were on the 2nd floor. The staff are friendly and accomodating (stored our large suitcase while in LA and offered us a choice of rooms). The inn provides clean, basic accomodations with comfortable beds and fridge. Bathrooms are very small with showers (no tubs). Some rooms have a second space with with a pull out sofa. It also has a pool and patio area and offers a satisfying complimentary breakfast with fruit, yoghurt, cereal, eggs, sausage, waffles etc. WiFi connection was fine. There's nothing "wrong" with this inn, there's just plenty of other options in that area (Radisson, Best Western, Holiday Inn) or within a short driving distance (Sports Blvd or Hotel Circle) we would have considered for the later part of our stay if we hadn't prebooked or if we visit SD again.

“If not for the roaches, this would be a positive review.”

I arrived for a 3 night stay at this hotel and was pleased by the friendliness of the staff working here. I went to my room and found an unusually laid out, but generally not bad little room with a comfortable bed. Bathroom was small, but functional and appeared clean. The second night there, I ordered a pizza. I put the leftovers in the fridge and left the box on top of the fridge. I got up at midnight to get a drink, turned on the lights, and saw cockroaches all over the box and wall near the fridge. Immediately called the front desk and they were very apologetic and moved me to a different room on the 2nd floor (first room was a ground floor room). I examined that room to the best of my ability and didn't see anything, so I stayed that night in that room. The next afternoon after returning to the room, I went into the bathroom and had another roach scurry across the floor. I packed my things, went to the front desk, demanded a refund (which, to their credit, they did provide), and went and stayed at the Holiday Inn up the block. More expensive, but not the wild kingdom either. This could have been a very nice little budget hotel with good breakfast options, but roaches are never acceptable at any price point.

Room Tip: If you do plan to stay here, ascertain that the roach problem has been addressed before booking. Ba...

“Disappointing with nice staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

This hotel was a huge disappointment. For the price ($89.95/night) we had way better accommodations on our recent 3 week tour of CA, AZ, UT and CO. The room appeared to have been furnished with items from local second-hand shops. Furniture was arranged helter-skelter.
WI-FI was marginal to non-existent. The room smelled bad.I would not stay here again, and I think anybody who has stayed here would feel the same way.

Room Tip: choose another hotel
