The Cottage is wonderful. It's a real Craftsman Cottage with its own little garden, filled with period furniture. Carol is thoughtful about little details (bottled water in the fridge, fresh flowers in the rooms, travel books and restuarant guides in the living room). She also knows a lot about San Diego history and can give tips about sights that are off the beaten path. We've stayed three times, and each visit was pleasant and relaxing. No place else is like The Cottage--if it's booked for the dates we want, we change our schedule!

I was lucky to find The Cottage and am astonished no-one has ever reviewed this B&B on Trip Advisor. Carol is kindness personified and couldn't do enough to help me have an enjoyable stay in San Diego. Hillcrest is a safe neighbourhood with wonderful and varied dining options, interesting shops to browse and a 30 minute walk to Balboa Park which I couldn't get enough of during my four day stay. The cottage is compact with a sitting room, small kitchen-dining, large bedroom and bathroom. Carol has furnished all rooms with love and attention to detail (lovely plump bath towels and good quality bed linens to name a couple). There is a small garden where you can relax after a long day's sightseeing. I felt like it was my home away from home and wish I could have stayed longer.
