As a frequent traveler I seek out Holiday Inn Express hotels for the quality. My recent experience began with desk clerk who failed to recognize my loyalty as a Priority Member. The experience then continued with a total lack of ice in the entire four-story hotel, vending machines that were inoperable, and no change at the desk to purchase water or obtain ice. The high point was the excellent cleanliness of our room. Parking was slim with car having inches between them. The elevator was down several times in one day forcing us to walk the three flights. Thankfully it worked on our final day to bring our bags down. But upon attempting to check out at 4:30 AM the night clerk demanded to know why we were prepaid, “Expedia?”. I suggested she check our room record where she discovered we were prepaid. I then asked for a receipt as my confidence level was at a low ebb. This is a hotel that is far below the Holiday Inn Express standards.
