A good hotel very located in a very convenient place, not full 5 star luxury as such but very good nevertheless. Review based on a five night stay in January’12 (background of spending 80+ nights per year in different hotels around the globe).

Location:
Wonderful location right in the middle of Gaslamp area but one is still able to get a getaway from the hustle since the hotel is next to a rather large park, location is especially convenient for car since very quick access to the Harbor Drive (e.g. from the airport). Countless bars, restaurants and shops right in the immediate neighborhood, quite decent deli/supermarket across the K street.

Room:
I received a large room in the 10th floor, certainly more than big enough for a single traveller. Bathroom was a little bit on the small side, though. Décor was rather traditional but not too old fashioned. Room was in very good shape, no signs of usage, stains etc anywhere. Two LCD TVs, safe, good desk for working.

Only minor problem was that there’s no Wi-Fi provided in the room and the LAN access had some issues too.

Etc:
Unlike some reviewers I did not have any issues with train/tram noise despite the room facing the ocean i.e. the railway. Don’t know whether I just got lucky, room in 10th floor made the difference or don’t care that much for city noise but I had no use whatsoever for the earplugs provided.

Breakfast was quite good, especially by American standards i.e. more than just doughnuts and muffins…

No Executive Lounge here. Received two complimentary water bottles per stay (not per day).

Valet parking was rather expensive at 40$ per day but it worked very well, never had to wait more than minute to get my car.

Would I return there?
Yes, sure. It’s a good hotel in a great location in wonderful city!

Exceptional service, clean rooms, friendly staff, in the heart of the gas lamp district and walking distance to everything. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. Valet parking fee is really high at $40/day. But I would definitely stay here again.

Fun place to stay. Explore Gaslamp district for a multitude of shops, restaurants and adult oriented clubs and bars. Short walk to convention ctr. and harbor. Nice new modern hotel. Great hot breakfast buffet.

Stayed for 6 days and it is a great spot if you are attending a conference at the convention centre. The Gaslamp district is a really cool place to walk around and lots to see and enjoy.

Stayed in the Lofts and that was nice and not too noisy. The service is good and they looked after us with shipping in and out, epecially Raymond. The desk staff were friendly and very helpful and had a laugh.

The WiFi is terrible in the common areas and does not exist in the rooms, so if you need a good connection bring your own.
