“I am sure I speak for all of us”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

The occasion was a 60th birthday celebration. I started out needing two rooms, ended up with seven. Lindi in reservations managed to get all of us in one wing and Mandy at the desk was a big help in making sure every person that came was greeted and assured they had the right rooms reserved for them. The Woodside units are awesome. We had our own gathering patio complete with fireplace and outdoor jacuzzi. We are all locals or were at one time, having graduated from Poway High a long time ago and some of them have never stayed at the Inn before, but had friends that worked there just out of high school. Now I am sure they all will be returning, I know I will be. This is a most beautiful and peaceful place to stay, walk the grounds and enjoy our San Diego weather.

“Stunning Views and Great Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Upon our arrival at the Inn, we were greeted by the valet parking attendants, with big welcoming smiles who were handsomely attired in vintage golfing duds. Our good mood had already been set by the friendly thoughtful assistance with our reservations by Lyndi. Upon check in, Mandy helped in her sweet, informative manner to guide us to the most beautiful and comfortable room (#629) on the ranch. The gorgeous grounds have quiet serene golf course views, spashing fountains, chirping birds and meandering paths that somehow give the illusion of solitude. We felt the ranch and staff were there simply to cater to us! While there are several jacuzzi hot tubs and 2 pools on the property for guests use, there is a $30 charge for the use of The Spa pool, which also has other amentities for an additional charge. I felt this $30 charge and parking fees to be excessive. All in all the time at the Rancho Bernardo Inn was perfectly delightful!!!

Room Tip: The end suites are extra large with a Juliette balcony

“Perfect romantic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

I hardly do reviews (for lack of time, not interest), but felt compelled to for RBI after the sensational weekend we just had there -- exactly the perfect romantic little getaway we were after & needed so bad... Gorgeous, every single space -- we found this to be a spectacular hidden San Diego secret! And we've LIVED in San Diego for a LONG time now!

I appreciate the politeness of the gentleman checking us in, esp since we came through a Living Social deal (read: no snobbiness!), with several amenities included. At every turn, the Resort & Spa were so elegant & accommodating & welcoming & inviting! Made me feel like I owned the place!

It is a pricey place indeed, for all we saved we still ended up blowing about $300 in extra drinks, tips, taxes, a couple 20-minute massages, valet parking -- adds up fast... But then again, you definitely get what you pay for here, and in spite of the high cost, we are already considering when we might return for another such getaway! My husband & I want to come back so bad!  We also encountered several weddings and other special events in just the 24 hours we were there; everyone looked so happy, and we ourselves found the perfect little spot on the property for when we next do another vow-renewal/anniversary party (we're at 13 now, 15 seems kinda close, so, maybe 20?  if I can wait that long...).

We had dinner at El Bizcocho and breakfast at the Veranda -- both included in our [amazing] package, and were more than satisfactorily fed at both... My husband and I were so glad to have a non-chardonnay (can't stand chard...) white wine option of a very nice chenin blanc (bottle was also included with dinner).  I further appreciated that our server was totally cool about agreeing to switch out the [fish/meat] entree option for 2 vegetarian starter dishes instead (you know how some places are a pain like that? or worse yet, make YOU feel like a pain for requesting it?)... ALL our dishes were perfect, beautifully presented, well-timed , & most importantly delicious & very satisfying! I enjoyed EVERY second of that dinner experience! Even every single song the wonderful pianist played!  The Veranda has a fantastic ambience, with good service. We scored a great little table tucked away in a private corner, and the buffet spread was just perfect (and plenty filling)...

We really were not wanting to leave, which we prolonged as it is!  We were able to get a late check-out, left bags for bus boy while we went down to the fitness center for a quick workout and another dip in the saline pool, then a final clean-up in their spa locker-rooms (access to ALL these was included in our AWESOME LS deal too)... We WILL be back!

Such a beautiful piece of property. The improvents they have done to the Veranda patio & bars are great! The spa is top notch and the setting for the spa pool are perfect. I will recomend this to my company for group events.

“Think twice about staying here - Multiple thefts have occured”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I attended a NSM in Jan, where we had over 100+ employees staying for four days, all meals included, with snack and beverage service. The food was nothing extraordinary, and the service was fair.

My second day at the conference my BMW was stolen out of the parking lot sometime before 7:30 p.m. Valet and Security were less than helpful as was the Front Desk Manager. All they did was call the non-emergency police so I could make a report. They never offered to take me home (I'm a local resident) and when asked if I could use their car service (they have two Lincoln Town cars) they informed me they only drive within a 5 mile radius of the hotel and could not make an exception to take me to Carlsbad, when asked if they could pick up the tab for the taxi, they declined, and offered me a drink ticket for the bar. The front desk manager apologize and also informed me a few months back they had a flat screen TV stolen out of their room and a security guard assaulted. Word got out quickly that my vehicle was stolen and needless to say, the local employees were on edge and checking on their cars throughout the day, not a good way to spend your time at a National Sales Meeting.

For the amount of money they charge, their customer service is terrible and their security isn't any better. All in all a very poor experience and my company will not be going back, nor will the employees.
