“Really enjoyed our stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We come to San Diego every February to attend a conference at a neighboring Hotel Circle hotel. We have stayed at several places, but had not found a hotel that we liked until now. The rooms were modern and clean, the beds were very comfortable. As my husband was on a special diet, we appreciated the ability to have a microwave delivered to our room. The Starbucks/Bistro in the lobby was very handy. There were only two things we disliked; the cross trainer in an otherwise stellar fitness center was pretty sucky (lucky for us, there was a 24 Hour Fitness a short distance away for our cardio) and the Hotel Circle parking cartel is obnoxious. I feel extorted every time I visit. Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable stay.

“Good courtyard, unfortunately surrounded by too many low budget hotels and restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

If you want a clean hotel with good rooms, an above average reception (for a courtyard), centrally located for things to do in san diego, with a small pool, on a reasonable budget, this is it. If like me you are on a business trip and can afford to pay a little more to be in a location from which you can walk to nice bars and restaurants, find another hotel. The first day i turned around for 20 minutes without finding a decent place for lunch and came back to have lunch at the courtyard. Then i decided to either drive to the gaslamp district for dinner or eat in the room.

Dear Phillipe_DC,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us during your recent business trip to the San Diego area. We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the variety of restaurants in the immediate area. Fortunately, we are in close proximity to the Gaslamp District, which does offer many higher end dining options. Thank you for your compliments on our hotel. We hope you will keep us in mind when your travels bring you back to our area.

Best Regards,

“Well located and boasting good facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

This hotel is well located and close to most San Diego's attractions. Rooms have been recently renovated and very spacious. A good alternative when visiting SD.

“Great for a weekend in San Diego - nicer than expected!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I'm not sure if this hotel is brand new or if it's been majorly overhauled. The location is in Hotel Circle, so I'm guessing it took over some other property & was redone or they did a new build. The lobby is the new Courtyard lobby with the bistro (think Starbucks, but better in terms of food) concept versus the normal restaurant. Rooms were defintely stylish & nice - bathrooms were clean with marble countertops.

Location is good, right off the highway - with decent dining nearby & easy on/off highway access. Parking was supposed to be $16/night according to the website, but we weren't actually charged - I think this was a mistake, but it worked out in our favor. Plenty of parking in the back of the hotel, the front definitely filled up.

Front Desk staff & check-in girl were friendly. Didn't really interact with the staff that much except checkin/checkout, but it was a good experience both times.

If going back, I'd stay there again - much newer product than most other Courtyards.

Room Tip: Requesting a room in the back is probably quieter than a room facing front.

“More than I expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We spent 3 nights here as part of a larger 2 week family road trip in December 2011. We were in San Diego for the Zoos and Theme Parks, so we didn't spend a lot time at the hotel, but this hotel worked out great for us. It was affordable and centrally located. Our kids really enjoyed being able to get in the heated pool and hot tub following a long day at the theme parks and Zoos.
