“Truly a Paradise”

This resort was perfect for a quiet rest away from the midwest cold. Weather couldn't have been better, mid 60's to mid 70's and sunny. The grounds were so beautiful and so spread out that we didn't even see half of them. It was so peaceful and green with ponds, waterfalls, birds, ducks, and herons everywhere. Flowers bloomed all around. The grounds were beautifully maintained. Our room was perfect, a garden bungalow with a view of the bay and a few steps from the beach. There was a large closet/dressing room for hanging clothes and suitcases. The bathroom was a little older but spotless, had two sinks separate from the shower with plenty of towels that were replenished daily. The bed was a bit hard but there were plenty of pillows. There are two restaurants on the premises but The Barefoot Grill was closed for renovation for most of our time there. That created some confusion at Baleen (the main restaurant) as they were picking up the slack. The staff was fantastic at both places (Barefoot opened the outside patio the last two days) and the food was very good except for lunch our first day. Every staff member we encountered was pleasant, helpful, and courteous, from the wait staff to the groundskeepers. We had a massage at the Spa and it was wonderful. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was airport transportation was included in the package. Our decision not to rent a car, in part because there was an additional daily fee to park, worked great for us. When we wanted to leave the resort we called the front desk and a cab was waiting for us in 10 minutes. There are set rates to many of the usual places one would want to visit, e.g. the zoo, the old city. The only criticism that we have is we wished there was a microwave to warm our morning coffee or re-warm left over food and to have better lighting in the bathroom. The bed could have had a little more padding. Next trip we would just walk the grounds and hang out at the pools. You would never know you were right outside a large city. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms are mainly bungalows and some look out on the bay. We preferred that to being near a pool...

“Paradise Point is paradise!”

From the moment we arrived we knew we had found someplace special. An oasis on the edge of the bay that makes you feel like you are in a tropical resort and not in an urban city. There is beauty all around. The grounds are manicured and maintained beyond belief. Everything about this hotel is first rate. The staff have a fantastic attitude and are there to make your stay as memorable as possible. I cannot say anything bad about this treaure. I hope it is around for a very long time!!! On a more detailed note, no bedbugs! No bugs at all and considering we were next to the pond, is amazing. We had a beautiful garden suite and it was stylish, clean and very comfortable. The food in Baleen was extaordinary. The tenderloin was one of the best I've had. My only disapointment was I didn't get out at night to try the bonfire on the beach as I had a cold. We did try a sail on the bay with a captain for hire. It was a great experience, my only recommendation would be to bring towels to sit on if you go for the two hour tour. Hard seats get harder by the second hour. We will return to this hotel every time we return to San Diego and recommend it to all our friends and family.

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We had the opportunity to stay at The Paradise Point Resort and Spa in the Spring of last year as a reward for my husbands great work for his company. The resort was beautiful!! We stayed in one of the bungalows that were located right on the bay. It had a separate living area and a closed off bedroom with a front patio that faced the bay. We took advantage of the spa service, cocktails and dining at The Barefoot Bar and Grill, and even had a gathering around our own private beach bonfire one night.
We would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful property to couples, families, or corporate events! Thank you for a most memorable stay.

Room Tip: Bungalows on the bay!

“Great retreat, perfect location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Beautiful hotel. The rooms are little duplexes, so they have a nice private feeling. We traveled with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. My children loved feeding the ducks and seagulls every morning right out the back door of our room. You wouldn't even have to leave to hotel to have a great vacation. You can rent a boat or go on a sail trip right from the hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomadating. The Hotel is a perfect location for San Diego, everything is minutes away.

“Never have to leave the property”

We had a fantastic stay of nine days in early February. It was very quiet, for most of the trip we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Friday & Saturday nights were a bit noisier as there was a business conference being held, but there were no problems.
The staff are all very friendly, smiling and waving and saying hello.
We were upgraded to a beachfront room, and it was so nice to walk out the door and down to the water. Our toddler loved building sandcastles just in front of the room. Other highlights for him were feeding the ducks that hang around on the pond (and they sell little packages of duck food in the island market), climbing the lookout tower, going swimming in the main (heated) pool, and roasting marshmallows on one of the fires they have.
As parents, we appreciated the onsite laundry (which was located by a pool, so you can go swimming while your clothes are washing), the good housekeeping staff who were accommodating to our child's naptimes, and the feeling of quiet & safety. I felt no hesitation wandering around the resort after dark.
The food at Baleen was good, we ate there every day as the Barefoot was closed for renovations The staff were understanding about having a child in tow, and promptly brought to go containers, and supplied us with the extras (ketchup & peanut butter) that toddlers appreciate.
We had an awesome stay, I'm sure I'm forgetting things but can't say enough good things about this resort.
