“Best Hostel In San Diego!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My partner and i stayed here recently and both thought it was exceptional! I have never stayed at a hostel before so i was a little weary about the whole 'hostel' experience but I'm glad to say i loved every minute staying here. The staff where very friendly and extremely helpful with all our questions about traveling to other destinations etc etc. The rooms where very clean as they have daily housekeeping. We received a free buffet breakfast every morning which was simple but well prepared and if your a traveler with not much money a free breakfast goes down great. I rate this place 9/10 and would recommend it to anyone planning on visiting the area. Its also positioned in the nicest place in OB with many great takeouts and the weekly farmers markets are a must see!

“VERY RUDE AND NASTY FRONT DESK”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Staff is awesome except one, Teressa. She will make you feel like a bum trying to check in at the Ritz with $20. We watched her speak down at guests, roll her eyes when asked questions and really upset this New Zealand gal over a late check out. She can ruin your whole stay.

“The best Youth Hostel to go to.”

The best Hostel you can go to in San Diego! Tons of other young travelers you can meet, comfy beds, cheap surfboard rentals, 2 min away from the beach! Great place to be, definitly coming back. The staff is great and they also love to party. Carly and Jason are the best, and they always go that extra mile for you. with $20 a night you would be crazy not to go.

“Professionally run but didn't do it for me”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I can see how this hostel would be great if you're young and want to party or hang out at the beach. This isn't what I'm looking for and I would have appreciated an edible free breakfast as opposed to half-cooked pancakes cooked by a volunteer who could not care less.

The receptionist was great and professional. She really helped plan our time in San Diego.

The room was nothing special. I've stayed in nicer hostels but it wasn't a dump. The bed bugs were a drawback but that can happen anywhere.

I'm not a huge San Diego or Ocean Beach fan, but if you want to stay by the beach near some ok eateries and get blasted, this would be the place to do it.

“Greatest place to stay in Southern California!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

If you want to get away from all of the craziness on this planet, this is the place to be. The staff will make sure you are well taken care of and you will meet some lifetime friends. I spent 2 weeks out here in So Cal and wish I knew about this place before... I would have just stayed here the entire time! It is truly the most unique place I have seen anywhere and I travel all over the World. The food is excellent and for the price you cannot beat the service you will receive.

Room Tip: Keep in mind it is a hostel. I believe you can pay a little extra if you want a private room upstair...
