“Loved it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I usually stay at other Hiltons around town - but this may be my new home there. Check in was fast and easy - my room was wonderful - great view of Coronado and the water but also of the city. Rooms were quiet and all staff I encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful.

The gym was wonderful - lots of all sorts of equipment. I didn't swim in the pool, but it was long enough to do some laps and looked very inviting.

Even though the bar on the lobby level was packed while I was there, service was fast. The Fox sports bar wasn't as fast but the food we had there was decent. The fire pit outside was very nice.

My biggest complaint is that its somewhat difficult to find your way around. I'm still unsure if there was a faster way to the Starbucks - I certainly didn't see it.

All in all, I would absolutely stay here again!

“Fabulous view of bay and downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We stayed with two kids for 4 nights. Absolutely fantastic view of bay/downtown/gas lamp quarter. We stayed in a higher floor, we could see the harbor, USS midway, downtown buildings and gas lamp quarter. It is few minutes walking distance to gas lamp quarter. Great location for many attractions. The pool and hot tub are nice, situated right next to harbor. The restaurants inside are quite expensive, so I recommend walking out to gas lamp quarter/downtown which has all sort of choices.

Room Tip: Ask for bayview and city view rooms on a higher floor (above floor 20)

“Beautiful Setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Our room was very clean, but only average size and amenities also average. What made our room was the breathtaking view of the water provided by our window on the 27th floor facing the water. Well worth the upgrade to have this every morning and evening. The location was also excellent for its proximity to the great restaurants and sights. My husband was attending a conference in the hotel and I had no problem occupying my time with walking to everything I needed!

Room Tip: Water view and higher rooms are definitely the best!

“Hilton Bayfront”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This our first stay and we were very pleased and impressed with the service on all levels. The Vela Restaurant, though a somewhat limited menu, was outstanding, service impeccable, and food was cooked and presented to perfection. The flatiron steak was juicy, tender, and correctly cooked. The eggplant curry had a nice bite of spicyness and absolutely mouth watering. A must try on the dessert menu was the crem brule trio......three small portions to share; mango, rasberry chocolate, and blackberry. We repeated the following night. The room was clean and well kept, though we were disappointed that the king rooms all came with a chaise lounge......made it hard for two to sit and relax............and, no towel bars but hooks. I guess that turned out all right, but towels dry more quickly on bars. Other than that. the view was spectacular and walking distance to the Gaslamp Quarter..........though one could pass that up. A mixture of unkempt buildings and restaurant/bars.

“Sleek”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This is a new Hilton, so the scars from the conventioneers and screaming kids have yet to materialize - It's still in resort shape. If you care about the view, then it's worth the extra script to upgrade to the bay views, which are impressive. The view of the railroad yard from the other side of the hotel is considerably less inspiring, unless you really like railroad track.

The photos are an accurate depiction of the hotel. It's sleek, with contemporary modern public spaces. The location is not as central as the Marriott, but not by much. The hotel is located on the other side of the convention center, so it's right on the water but a bit outside of reasonable walking distance to the Gaslamp district or Petco. Valet is 30 bucks a day, but there is also public parking. It might be wise to check to see if there is a convention in town during the dates of your stay, as the experience can vary depending upon occupancy levels.

The room is well done. Hilton has great beds in their newer hotels and this is no exception. The service is nothing exceptional, but the hotel is a good value - A bit newer and more contemporary than The Grand Hyatt or Marriott.
