We love this hotel, and try to stay here every time we make the 2 day trip from Colorado Springs to Kentucky. The price is definitely right - we paid $96 (with tax) for one night in a room with a king size bed and a queen size convertible couch for our 7 year old daughter. And the place is a step up from the Holiday Inn-type motels travelers often use if they can't make their trip in one day. It is always very clean and the rooms well-maintained. The continental-plus breakfast is always good and plentiful. We had a very nice room and a large flat screen TV that could be seen from our bed and our daughter's fold-out couch bed. Wireless internet was simple and high speed.
We got in tired from driving at about 8 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2011, made ourselves comfortable and watched TV before going to bed. We were having a great stay until we went down for breakfast in the morning. We misread the hours of operation and came in just as they were closing down. We apologized, and didn't ask for any special service - one nice young woman told us that we could go ahead and have some of whatever they hadn't yet put away. We didn't even ask for them to leave anything out for us, just took some cold cereal and bagels. But the rest of the staff gave us a nasty attitude and a distinct lack of graciousness. Especially the pretty young woman with long brown hair at the front desk, who was also helping to break down the breakfast area. She could hardly bring herself to smile at us, and when I told her (trying to be helpful) that the serve-yourself coffee pot was empty, she all but snarled at me that she "had another one right here." As we gulped down our breakfast, she would pass by while she was working and several times she gave us a dirty look. I am not imagining this! She made us feel quite unwelcome, not like paying guests, but like unwanted interlopers who should feel lucky she deigned to allow us in her hotel.
Hoping that the unhappy woman at the front desk finds another job by the time we come through town again - or that the manager reads TripAdvisor and gives her some training in what it means to be in the "hospitality business"!
