“Pleasantly Surprized!”

We come down to Furniture Market every year, I love Tupelo and the people are wonderful here. This year we did not book in advance and we were very glad to find a room at Best Western..it is in an excellent location! shopping, restaurants, entertainment.

Our room was very nice, very clean and the staff was very congenial and we have booked reservations for January Furniture Market, the rates are very reasonable, we enjoyed our stay and plan on future stays.

“Smelly Situation”

The surrounding area is nice although the hotel itself is like a cheap, smelly, unclean motel experience. The smell is so bad you cannot sleep. It just gives you that unclean, don't want to touch anything feeling.

We stayed here for a swim meet--big mistake.

Don't get me wrong. The location is great, the rooms are nice. The microwave and refrigerator are a nice touch.

But . . . the service was terrible. We stayed there for three days. Our room was never cleaned--the maids simply made the beds and left. They didn't empty the trash; they didn't leave us fresh towels; and they darn sure didn't change the linens even after my husband made a special request that they do so on the second day of our stay. Finally, the pool had a lot of debris in it--I wouldn't even consider letting my children get in it.

When we complained to the management (on the second day and when we checked out), we were simply told, "I'm sorry. As far as I know, the rooms are supposed to be cleaned." As far as you know????

There are a LOT of places to stay in Tupelo. Pick a place other than this one.

“Not for everyone!”

No matter how good the hotel, I make it a point to stay in hotels where the door to my room is not accessible from the outdoors. That is the reason for my concern with this hotel and I don't suggest it for "out of towners" or business women traveling alone.

“Excellent Value!”

You never know what to expect when you a book a Best Western, but the BW in Tupelo provided me with an outstanding stay for an affordable price. I spent two nights there this past September. The hotel appeared to be built fairly recently and is tucked away in a growing retail area off Hwy 45 in Tupelo near the Barnes Crossing Mall. Definately a nice, safe part of town. There are plenty of upscale chain restaurants and fast food outlets within a few blocks, as is a very nice Kroger grocery store.

The front desk staff was very helpful upon check-in and offered a coupon book for local restaurant discounts. My room was clean and comfortable, and included both a refrigerator and a microwave. A small swimming pool was located behind the property. A continental breakfast was served in the lobby, consisting mostly of doughnuts, pastries, fruit, cereals, juices, and coffee. Nothing spectacular but it was standard cold breakfast fare.

For the price, I felt like the BW of Tupelo was an outstanding value. With value-priced properties (and especially Best Westerns), it can really be hit-or-miss. However, this property gave me an experience similar to what I expect at a Hampton Inn, Drury Inn, or Holiday Inn Express. I give it high marks.
