“Adequate”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2011

I booked this hotel when other nicer hotels (Hilton Garden and Hampton Inn Tupelo) were booked. To get to the hotel, I had to drive through the parking lots of the two adjoining, less savory motels. They were run down and I got very nervous. The Clarion is the nicest of the three properties but still nothing to write home about. It is tired. The room was tidy but plain. The smell of cleaner was overwhelming. The turn down notice on the bed had smeared lipstick and chunks of dried food on it. The ice machine and toilet were very noisy and woke me up several times in the night. No pool either but you can use the motel's pool next door if you want to. Staff seemed friendly at least!

“Decent hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2011

This Clarion was in a lot with 1 or 2 other hotels and not the most thrilling place in the world. But it was fine, nice staff, funny happy hour where you can get two free drinks in their little bar, hanging with the locals and guests was amusing. I didn't really eat their breakfast cuz I was on my way to somewhere else but the bit of biscuits and gravy I had was awesome. They have a guitar shaped pool but I didn't swim my one nite there. Some cute stuff in Tupelo.

“WHAT IS THAT SMELL???”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

Oh dear God, the smell [...] near killed me. I don't know if it was what they had cleaned their carpets with or something they disinfect with or whether it was supposed to hide the smell of decomposure. The bathroom had some shoddy repair work, the drain was broken. If I had not arrived at midnight I would have checked right back out and gone somewhere else. It was enough to make you wretch.

“An unexpectedly pleasant surprise!!”

After a long day of riding our Gold Wing up the Natchez Trace, we arrived in Tupelo. We were a little nervous to find the Clarion Inn located up a driveway behind several other hotels. Not to worry. The people at the desk were extremely friendly and welcoming. The hotel isn't new and a little outdated, but the rooms were large, beds very comfortable and no road noise.

We each received 2 drink coupons to be used at the small bar where we met other friendly travelers. as we visited over drinks and popcorn. We were able to order dinner there and never had to leave the hotel. Ms. Jo was bartender extraordinaire and hostess for our included breakfast. Breakfast was served on white china, white tablecloths, using real silverware and white cloth napkins! The scrambled eggs were real and Ms. Jo made the waffles for us. What a great example of southern hospitality. We plan to return to this area and stay here again.

“Kind staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2010

The staff made all the difference at this hotel; front desk personnel, housekeeping and food service. Two weekends in January 2010 we were asked to come to Tupelo on business. This hotel was booked for us and we were pleasantly suprised. The first night we arrived was during the first week of dinner being available. The food was good. We had a meeting while we ate and the server was kind and not intrusive. The rooms were clean both times and we stayed on the side that is the "new area". We would chose this hotel again; especially because of the front desk ladies showing us how to get around Tupelo and their pleasant smiles.
