“Nice, but should have listened to reviews!!”

This hotel is classic Boston. Very nostalgic, but updated, This is the palce to stay, if you want to be right in the thick of it. Very close to all the attractions, bars, restaurants, and sights. Stay here and there is no reason to drive anywhere. Only one issue, a lot of other reviews warn of noise in the late night hours, due to the bars. They were right, stayed two nights, and was woken up every night by the partying on the streets below. I strongly recommend staying on a higher floor, because you will be awaken by the late night partying.

“Historic Building and Great Location and Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This is not your average hotel, in fact it’s not a hotel but part of the Marriot Vacation Club properties (timeshare) and one of their only urban locations. The rooms are actually 1 bedroom villas with a bedroom and separate living room/kitchenette. It’s great for when you want more room than a typical hotel room with the living room and kitchenette (small fridge, microwave, bar sink and misc kitchen items – blender, toaster, dishes and silverware). Rooms are nicely appointed and the building is so unique and full of history in a perfect location for seeing Boston. Yes is can be a little noisy on weekends as the next block has several busy bars, but it wasn’t too bad but could be an issue on lower floors. The views are great and the higher you go the better. The bed was good but may be a little firm for some and didn’t seem to be the typical Marriott mattress.

It sounds like the villas are all great but we stayed in one of 2 Eagle Suites on the 21st floor and would have to say they were very special due to private the two private balconies. One balcony was fairly large (4’x20’) nestled between two of the Custom House Eagle statues on the side of the building that had an amazing view of the city and a smaller Balcony (2x4) overlooked Faneuil Hall and the North End. Even if you don’t have your own private balconies the open air observation area on the 26th floor has got to be one of the best views of Boston and it has seats/tables to relax and watch the city and harbor.

We will be back and already talking about brining family to visit to this property for a unique Boston experience.

Room Tip: Higher floors for view and to minimize the street noise later at night.

“Boston's Watch Tower”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott for a special getaway weekend. Bonnie and Eric were fantastic helping to make our anniversary stay special. We went to the Boston Wine expo and this location worked well to get to the Seaport and also allow us to be in the Fanueil Hall area where the action is. This is a suite hotel and the extra room and amentities are wonderful.
The one downside is that, becuase you are in the bar area, when the bars close, there is a lot of commotion on the weekends. Even on the 19th floor, the noise (yelling, honking of horns) was enough to wake you from a sound sleep. There is nothing the hotel can do about this and we will stay there again but wanted to share this with the readers.

“Great location, with some downsides”

Great location and building. Certainly to remember. Rooms great, suites. Yet: breakfast very poor, and ony starting at 7am... weird hours. I guess more tuned toward vacationers. All in all, quite expensive for what you get. PS: check the lookout terrace, quite stunnig view 360 over Boston

“A beautiful historic building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

This is a beautiful historic building. There is an observatory where you can see the whole city from it. The location is perfect. You can walk everywhere. We did not try the restaurant. But there are so many good restaurants within walking distance. The rooms are very comfortable and the decor very elegant. It is pricey but well worth it.

Room Tip: Rooms on the third floor have higher ceilings and a view of the cupola like no other.
