I stayed here on a Saturday night while I was in town to see a Broadway tour. It's very easily accessible to the downtown shopping area, the bus station, Quincy Market, etc. It was gorgeous the weekend I was there (though a bit chilly occasionally), so I just walked everywhere I needed to be. There are a number of bars and restaurants that are open late in the area (which is, apparently, rare in the city of Boston).
The room I was given was clean. It was large and the bed was extremely comfortable. My check-in was extremely easy and I was able to get a room before the official check-in time. The doorman gave me directions to the Opera House and when I returned, asked if I found it easily (I had). I ordered room service late Saturday night. My room didn't have a menu but the person who answered was patient and let me know what was available. The food arrived in less than the time they told me so I was pleasantly surprised.
The only bad thing I could say about the hotel is that the walls are extremely thin - EXTREMELY. I felt like I could hear everything happening on the floor and in the rooms next to me. I was woken up around 3 in the morning to loud laughs which was annoying but I was able to fall back asleep quickly, luckily.
All in all, I had no real problems with Hilton Boston Downtown. They're friendly, the place is clean, and close to nearby attractions. I can't ask for much more than that.
