“what is happening to Marriott....”

On February 11, we decided to stay at the Marriott Courtyard Property located on Tremont Street, downtown Boston MA. I am deeply sorry to write and state how terribly disappointed once again our visit with Marriott has been. I am trying to understand if this is just coincident or a sign of a weakened economy and Marriott does not have enough funds or business to maintain their rooms with integrity. Attached is one photo I am including and just one example of the condition which I find not acceptable to their standards.. In additon to this photo two of the four walls inside the room had a dozen or so scuff marks left by previous customers. It appears housekeeping may have ateempted to clean off these markings and thus leaving a bleached scuff marks behind. So that discribes the interior. In addition to interior issues, we found it necessary to contact the front desk to report a drunk couple fighting in the hallway outside our door, loud banging noices coming from adjoining rooms, loud music downstairs on the street level with several Boston police responding to the complaint. This location is situated in a beautiful theater district just two streets from Newbury Street shoppiing, etc. Sleep was mostly out of the question. This hotel property is also a category 5 which is I believe one of the highest rated hotels in regards to Marriott Courtyard points, rewards, etc.

“Great Location & Great Value”

I stayed at the Courtyard on Tremont St in Boston on Feb 10, 2012. My boyfriend and I booked tickets to see a comedy show at the Wibur Theater & decided to turn it into a short getaway by staying in a near by hotel. The hotel was extremely close to the theater (we walked to & from the show). We had a blast. The room was small (the king sized bed took up the majority of the room) but if your only staying in the hotel to sleep, it was perfect. The room was comfortable & clean. The service was fabulous & we booked the valet parking included package, so we had no worries or surprise costs. The bathroom was extremely small & the hotel breakfast buffet was ok, but it was worth the value. I would defiately stay here again.

Good for 1 night stay, close to Boston commons, State House, Legal Seafood, downtown etc. Great Staff, if you need to use a computer bring your own bc they only have 3 which are always occupied. Only received one sheet and a very thin blanket, maid must of forgot to put on comforter. Excellent staff. Must eat at Legal seafood for best Lobster you will EVER have in your life.

“Tiny rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I agree with most of the not so good reviews of this hotel.
As a Marriott Gold member, I was given one of smallest rooms I've seen in years - and that includes a lot of travel overseas.
OK - its a very old building and they can only make them so big.
On the bright side, there is wireless Internet and it was within walking distance of my client dinner for the evening which is why I decided to stay there.
When making reservations, make sure you get the prepaid parking rate, it will save $20 on the valet.

“Overall a good stay in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

The hotel is located in the theater district - orange line T-stop Tufts Medical Center is right across the street not even 2 minutes from the entrance. All the cultural venues are around the corner, and Chinatown/Downtown is about 5-10 minutes walk.

After reading a reviews, I have asked the lady at the check-in, if it would be possible to get a quite room due to the fact that I would be staying there for 3 weeks and study a lot for the January term. She was very friendly, changed by room to the 11th floor, and also have taken the time to show me the map of where the room lies to make sure that it would be ok (so I guess it all a matter of asking politely).
The room has a nice size - its not the newest one and in some corners really outdated, but clean and for my purpose just fine. The bed was good, the desk had enough room to study and work, and the free wi-fi connection was a plus. However, it is not secured, so sending very important and private information might not be a good idea unless you have to do so ;-)
There is a small fridge in the room, where you can store some drinks and small foods. Coffee maker with normal and decaf coffee pads, and a vending and ice machine on each floor....

Only one negative - the air-conditioning/heat in the room is really old. When you turn it on and stay close to it (work desk right next to it), it will practically "dry" your skin ..... But I guess as European I am just not used to this old-fashioned types of heating systems :-D

P.S. All the staff I have approached in the 3 weeks I stayed there were VERY friendly and helpful - maybe the response you will get really depends on the way you talk to them :-)
