I stayed her for a night on Oct 20 2011.
I had the misfortune of being very unwell and on my own that night, in a hotel and far away from family and friends in the UK.
"Positives"
(1)clean rooms but outdated decor - pink -tiled bathroom from the 70's!
(2)is definitely a corporate hotel - would be more appropriate for a business person
(3) I was allowed to check in an hour early when I mentioned to the receptionist that I was unwell and she offered to have tea sent to the room and assured me that there was availabilty for the next night if I was unable to fly home the next day.
Negatives!!!
I could have essentially died in that room and no-one would have known.
No tea arrived (although I was so sick I didn't really care) and no-one called to see if I was okay - it is of course possible that I was expecting too much, especially from such a large hotel but maybe some concern if a guest, checking in on her own, mentions she is unwell and breaks down in tears in front of you at check in???
I was suffering from acute vertigo and became so unwell that after several hours of trying, managed to bundle myself into a cab and go to AE at Brigham and Womens Hospital - three hours in AE, $3000 bill but life savers.
I eventually woke up at 11 the next morning, marginally better but still not well. Having spent 30 mins trying to get through to the front desk, I ordered room service and mentioned to the lady on the phone that I couldn't check out straightaway. She informed me that the hotel was full (thankfully I was able to fly that day) and said I could stay in the room for another 4 hours at a cost of $100. I was so desperate that I of course paid the money to stay in the room.
I eventually left the hotel at 4 o'clock and flew home that evening.
The Sheraton is a large, corporate hotel and it is possible that a smaller hotel would have offered a more personal service. The staff are polite but I would be hard pushed to say they have any genuine interest in their customers - noone seemed interested in " doing that little bit extra" to make the stay more pleasurable.
Maybe if one was on business, this hotel ticks all the boxes and it certainly was busy.
For a person on holiday, this is not the hotel for you! It is clean but seriously outdated in terms of decor, impersonal and overpriced.
