“Good Choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Travel to Boston weekly, and I have stayed at multiple hotels to keep it interesting. The Intercontinental is on my top five list. I find the crowd here slightly younger than at the Ritz, Four Seasons, etc. which makes it a little more fun for pre or post dinner cocktails. It is a fine place for both business and pleasure.

Room: all very modern, spacious and comfortable. no complaints and always enjoy my sleep.

Service: while not as on point as some other high end hotels in town, always very professional.

Location: perfect - can walk to all major tourist sites. easy access to South Station (walking) and 10-15 mins from airport.

Facilities: gym has some free weights, but plenty of treadmills. never used the spa, but looks nice. there is a fun bar (Rum Bar) which is fairly in the evening. food is fine, but you are so close to other options leave the hotel and venture about.

Overall good choice - the Ritz and Four Seasons may have the edge on accomodations (just by a bit) but I like the location and vibe of the IC better.

Thank you for staying with us at InterContinental Boston and reviewing our property. With the financial district right at our doorstep we try to make our facilities and services as accommodating to the busy day of our business travelers, while creating an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. At InterContinental Boston, we understand that a hotel room is both a place for unwinding and working. Ergonomic design allows guests to be as productive as they would be in their own office, with a desk area engineered to maximize work space, wireless high-speed internet and modern lamps that light your space effectively. We are delighted you had a chance to experience RumBa, our sassy rum-themed bar serving international distilled rums, appetizers, and mixes of Latin and Caribbean music. Also in our lobby, we feature an international feast of chic restaurants and bars that reflect a journey around the world. Our Provence themed brasserie, Miel "Brasserie Provençale" celebrates the intoxicating flavors of France’s Côte d’Azur. East meets West at Sushi-Teq, a chic salsa bar pairing sushi with vintage tequila. Thank you for your review and we hope you will have the chance to visit us again soon, whether it be work or pleasure related.

“The InterContinental-- Love can/will Spark In Boston on Valentines Day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012
2
people found this review helpful

Guys:

Let me help you out for this upcoming Holy of Holiest of Holiday's. Bigger than Christmas. Bigger than Birthday's. I propose to you that Valentine's Day is the Holy of Holy for your lady. I know this because my wife has told me so. And she is right...Right!
Ok, so for you gentlemen looking for a great way to spice up the relationship or impress that beautiful someone the InterContinental is the place to do it!!
First, the rooms are exquisitly decorated. When you walk into the rooms the warmth of the dark woods and "Film Noir" lighting speak of the pending "heat" awaiting the lucky couple sharing the room. The bed--most important here because you should be spending most of the time in it--is splendid. Filled with large crisps fluffy white pillows and white bedding it is truly falling into clouds-- you don't want to move. Now, I have stayed there with my Conejolita (that's my wife of 30 years as of this June) three or four times. Each room had the same set up with a sliding panel above the bed that when opened revealed the bathroom. But, not just the bathroom but a stylish large tub with jets and decorative hardware...it fits TWO.
Now, if you plan ahead GENTLEMEN--that's a hint. If you plan ahead, get yourself some great wine(more then one!), cheese, grapes, humus, dark chocolate, fresh made bread and a bit of hard salami and put together a small basket. Now don't forget the napkins and plates. Book one night at the InterContinental and you will be a hero. Because you rescue Romance from the grips of sitcom tv and the couch!
Here's the catch, to take true advantage of the InterContinental's beauty and location you need to check in around 3pm (this is normal). But to make the date truly romantic, you need to have your lady in the room by 4pm...Why? Because you are not only going to give her an afternoon of hot tub, pampering, and love making, but you are going to watch a "chickflick" with her after the fireworks and then later you are going to take her out on the town and give her the nightlife. And don't give me that "I don't dance" stuff. The InterContinental has a great bar downstairs that is super-stylish. It has a fabulous selection of excellent wines, cushy atmosphere and good music light ly playing in the background. You should stop there for a drink around 9pm. Have one, then head out the front door into the world of great dining. You only have to walk 100 yards and on the water is a plethora of great restaurants. I am not going to tell you in this review where to go--(hahah)--but will say any place around there is a great choice. That's the point...the InterContinental allows you to have maxium "Romance-ability!"
So, after a great dinner, it's about 11:00pm now you walk down the street to the "Livingroom." It's a swanky club with two large bars that are arty. The place is loaded with couches and chairs over-stuffed and soooo comfy. There is music playing and lights flickering giving you that "city-night-club-I-am-out-with-the-hip-people-crowd-thing." And the funny thing is that you are!!! Now, have a martini, or something. Then order their Calamari and sit back and enjoy the view. It is a great place.
Whew, now...it's 1:30am. Your lady has her hand wrapped deep in yours. You can hear, in the silence as you walk back to the InterContinental, her complete happiness and contentment. You, my good fellow, have wooed her right tonight. You get back to the room. To that amazing bed and you tumble into the fluffiness awaiting. And your lady rolls atop you all smiles and kissy and says "what do you have planned for next year?'" And you look at her, cause she must be crazy. And you say cooly. "The InterContinental of course!!"
And you will, because it is a great place to stay.

Room Tip: Use your Google prowess and you can get amazing pricing.

“Very nice, but at least allow free wifi in the lobby”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Wonderful service, beautiful property. Loved being able to soak in the large bathtub while looking out the window and watching TV! If I were to come to Boston again in the winter though, I would choose a hotel closer to the center of downtown. The extra 15 minutes of walking makes a difference.

They should really consider some type of free wifi. You have to join the Ambassador program at $200/yr - the only way to get it. Not even their elite members get at break.

We appreciate your review our hotel. Our staff works hard to maintain our facilities and to exceed our guests’ expectations. Our guestroom bathrooms are laden with luxuriating amenities that offer a spa-like experience and it is great to hear you enjoyed each detail we put into ensuring a relaxing and wonderful stay for our guests. With regard to complimentary Internet access, while some other Boston hotels do charge for access, we are looking into this for our property. We hope to welcome you back soon.

“What a treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

We had the opportunity to spend a night here following my office holiday party. Because we had the party at the hotel, we were able to get a discounted room. The room was beautiful, with a nice view of the Rose Kennedy Greenway. Everything about the place was fantastic, from the staff/service, to the rooms and the food that we were able to enjoy - both at the party and our breakfast at Miel. We enjoyed the buffet and were pleasantly surprised at the price tag. It was certainly more than we would normally spend for breakfast, but less than I was expecting at such a beautiful and classy place in downtown Boston. I hope that we hold future office parties here and that we'll again have the opportunity to spend a night or two.

“Perfect for our stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I stayed here for one night in January with my mother. We had a superb time. Every employee was extremely cordial and helpful. We booked the cheapest 2-bed room. The room was big and the beds & linens extremely comfortable. The windows were huge but overlooked an alley-way (fine since we didn't care about a view) The bathroom was wonderful - both a bathtub and a glass-enclosed shower (with a very handy shelf) It was extremely quiet both during the day and the night (in fact, even though it was a Saturday night, it seemed almost empty - very peaceful!)

The gym had a lovely view and a cool locker room with electronic lockers and a steam room. The pool was also great and deserted whenever we went there. Plenty big for swimming laps.

The restaurant served a delicious dinner and breakfast. The pastries with the continental breakfast were delectable and the unlimited fresh-squeezed orange juice was great.

There is also a nice bar that sort of spills into the lobby - lots of comfy chairs and couches and a little fireplace; good and interesting cocktails, not ludicrously overpriced.

The location is superclose to South Station and 5 min from Boston Common. I LOVED this hotel! The price (ours included breakfast) was great for a January weekend - worth a splurge if you normally stay at cheaper places.

Room Tip: If you don't care about the view, the cheapest rooms are totally fine!!

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Service and location are two aspects we take pride in and it is great to hear that you enjoyed both of these. We’re glad you had a chance to experience our spa and health club as it is often overlooked. Our hidden gem is equipped with state-of-the art weight and cardio training equipment, a 45-foot indoor heated lap pool, steam rooms, locker rooms, six dedicated spa treatment rooms, and an extensive collection of healing spa services, including massage therapy, body treatments and facial care. As you mentioned, our prime location is one of the main reasons visitors choose to stay with us. We are within walking distance to famous Boston attractions such as Faneuil Hall and the North End. Not only are we close to the subway, but during the warmer months the water taxi is a fantastic way of transportation to and from the airport that many guests do not know about. With a dock right behind our hotel it is convenient and a great way to tour the Boston waterfront during your ride. It is wonderful to hear from guests who truly enjoyed their stay with us and we hope to see you again soon. Thank you for your review and we hope you will return soon.
