“Perfect for me”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011 via mobile

I had researched before arriving so I knew it was not in Boston city center, however the short walk to and from the T was no hassle and never a long wait for a train. The twin room was really nice with very comfortable beds. Didn't need to share bathroom because I was alone on the top floor. Great coffee every morning while watching TV in the great "great room". Heidi was a valuable source of information for a first time visitor to Boston. The neighborhood was nice and I always felt perfectly safe walking to restaurants or the T. Blasi cafe was a good place. Great stay in a great town. If going back to Boston I will most certainly stay in the Carruth house again.

“Pleasant and economical place to visit Boston”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

We recently visited Carruth House at the start of our two-week tour of New England. It is set in a quiet residential area but within a five minute walk of the T (tube) station. We stayed in the Ashmont Suite which was on the ground floor and had the advantage of a separate sitting room and a very high four poster bed. The breakfasts, although not cooked on the premises were plentiful and delicious. We enjoyed the company of other visitors in the dining area and were able to swap tourist tips. Heidi is a very friendly host and was most helpful in providing me with a wrap-around cool pack for my swollen foot! We would not hesitate to recommend this B & B to anybody visiting Boston and we hope to return ourselves one day.

“Charming Value for your Money”

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at Carruth House in November 2011. The house is a charming Queen Anne style home, and a 10 minute walk from the red line Ashmont T subway station. For those with lots of luggage, taxis are often waiting at the station. The house is located in a neighborhood that was established in the late 1800s with large homes. The surrounding area around the Ashmont station is a mixed working class neighborhood. The red line is a quick and safe 20 to 25 minute subway ride to the central Boston sights.(A 7 day unlimited subway pass is only $15.) The rooms are quite roomy (we stayed in 2 different rooms during our stay), and you share 2 bathrooms with other guests. There are also other common rooms to use, including one with an internet computer. As mentioned in other reviews, the house is still a work in progress, but the room prices reflect that. Delicious breakfast pastries, muffins, and breads change daily, along with fresh fruit, yogurt, and cereals. For the price I don't think you can find a more affordable place to stay in Boston.

“Carruth House - a wonderful stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed at Carruth House on a recent trip to Boston. It was wonderful to be able to stay in such an amazing historic home in a lovely, quiet neighborhood and enjoy such a warm welcome from Heidi who was very helpful with advice and tips about exploring the city. Many thanks for the perfect base for our maiden trip to Boston. Carruth House is packed full of character and warmth. We will be back!

“This B&B was perfect and we loved it. Thanks Heidi!”

We came from Italy for the Halloween. We arrrived late at night but Heidi was there waiting for us and she offered us a cup of tea (as outside was snowing). Our room was a twin bed on the second floor with share bathroom. Everything was really clean and our room was more than what I was expecting. The breakfast was lovely and we had French tost (made by Heidi), muffins and scones. Also everyday you can find fresh bread, cheese, orange juice, nutella, Philadelphia cheese, yoghurt, different types of tea, fresh fruit, different types of jam...so it was great to start the day with a gorgeous breakfast. The main room with the pool table and the fire place was one of my favorite rooms of the house. We always had breakfast there looking at the fire and listen to the music.

I really recommend this B&B if you are going to Boston.

For the recent bad review I guess this guy should had gone to a four star hotel in downtown Boston. @Heidi: don't listen to this guy...he didn't deserve to stay in your lovely B&B. You rock and I hope to be in Boston soon to come back to your place. Thanks for everything.
