“Great Service”

I traveled to Boston for the first time for a conference, and brought my family so we could enjoy the city over the weekend. We were excited when we arrived at the hotel because of its location and potential views. Unfortunately, our room was on a lower floor with a limited view and we were all a bit disappointed. When I requested another room, I was told nothing was available due to the sold out convention. Recognizing our disappointment, Justin at the front desk began working with his supervisor, Tom, to help us. The next day they graciously moved us into another room, reserved for VIPs, with a spectacular view (see photo). They could easily have continued to say "nothing was available" because of the huge convention, but instead they made it happen and we spent three more nights in an awesome room. That was above and beyond, fellas, thank you.

“Is this really the Westin? Won't stay here again.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Our company team traveled to Boston for the Yankee dental conference and chose the Westin because of it's convenient location. We have stayed in many Westin hotels and this one was incredibly disappointing.

Why can I hear the people above us walking around? I just want some sleep. Is this the Motel 6? Oh, no that's right I paid over $249 a night to stay here so this must be the Westin but as we continued with the weekend it proved to be Westin employees working at some other hotel. The staff are wonderful with baggage, cleaning, and concierge services but they need to work on delivering on the amenities that are expected with the Westin name.

We travel alot and try to stay healthy and one of the reasons we normally choose the Westin is to have a hotel that supports our healthy lifestyle, but not this one! There's a large non refrigerated snack case with nothing in it!!! Hello............. there is a convention going on and you know the hotel is going to be full, why are you not prepared?

No snacks and No water in our rooms to purchase and the water out of the tap was appalling, get a filter!! So cloudy with sediment swirling (that never disappeared, yuck) that it was not something you would put in your mouth. Given that, why is there no water in my room???? Interesting that when I go down stairs even the Starbucks is out of water, really???? We are human beings we need water, kind of essential.

I requested a refrigerator so I could have fresh healthy snacks for the convention, since eating out isn't that healthy or easy when 25,000 people are at the restaurants surrounding the convention center. They said they only have a few refrigerators and they were out, I had called to reserve one 2 weeks prior. Kind of ridiculous when a Radisson hotel can provide one in every room! It's a high end hotel get some refrigerators come on!

It's great that it has a gym and pool but the chlorine in the pool area is so strong you wouldn't want to stand in that suffocating space for more than a few minutes, so it's pretty much useless. And again, no water in the workout room!! We are human beings and we paid a bunch of money to stay at your hotel, can we at least have some water?????

On a positive note, the beds are amazing. But why are there no fans in the bathroom?? I am a professional, I need a bathroom that I can get ready in that has a fan for the steam from the shower!!! Seems so obvious, have these people ever traveled a lot?

If the beds weren't so nice I would have changed hotels that weekend and gladly paid for a cab ride to the convention center each day. Won't stay here again.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. It is regrettable that your stay with us did not meet your expectations. I am happy to share with you that we are about to implement a program that will become a Westin brand standard whereby we offer complimentary bottled water as well as bottled water for purchase in our guest rooms. We appreciate the comments you have shared as a business traveler and it is our hope that you give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves by staying with us in the future.

Best Regards

“What has happened??”

If you are attending an event at the Boston Convention and Expo Center and are looking for the convenience being able to walk to the Convention center without going outside--then this is the place to stay. But beyond that convenience, this hotel has really deteriorated since its opening just 5 short years ago. I have to attend a conference each year at the BCEC and enjoy the convenience of the Westin but this will most likely be the last year I stay here. The once stellar service has become lackluster and un-attentive (I had to break up a game of grab butt at the front desk when trying to check out and was treated like I was a major interruption), the quality of the food is horrible (how do you screw up fried eggs??) and the condition of the hotel is on par with a Red Roof Inn. Dirty walls in the dining room, torn and broken chairs in the Birch Bar and dented and scratched walls and furnishings abound.
I travel extensively for my business and usually stay at my 'favorite' spots year after year. I have to say that I have never seen a hotel deteriorate so fast and so dramatically as this Westin. I will not be back.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere

“This is CANNOT be a Westin”

Just because it has the Westin name, it does not mean it functions like a real Westin - Starwood properties really needs to reevaluate this one. It is attached to a huge conference center and the crowds it gets are gi-normous, but I have satyed at this property annually since it opened (5 years...??) Unfortunately, it has gone down hill with each passing year. ...service, cleanliness, honoring requests made months earlier and calling three times on the day of check in to confirm availability (of king bedded room and refrigerator). Disappointing. Noise from room next door - up half the night ... Sorry.

“Nice Hotel for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

The Westin Boston Waterfront is a very nice hotel, nice beds, nice tub with dual showerhead. The hotel seems to be a bit far from the downtown area but the train station is walking distance. The only issue with that was I went when it was snowing so 2 blocks seem very far when you have to deal with such cold temperatures. The only complaint I have was a less than friendly staff. The hotel has a free shuttle service to the downtown which I found out by a fellow traveler who told me about it. I had asked the staff and no one told me about it, they just pointed to the taxis outside & said the train was nearby. The staff seemed either very tired or not friendly at all, including the cleaning lady whom I said good morning to & not even a hi came from her mouth. There was a restaurant that served breakfast till 11 am, we arrived at 10 am & as soon as they brought our food they also brought the check. I felt rushed since there was no one left in the restaurant and it seemed they wanted to close. Overall the hotel is very nice but the staff is less than what you would expect in a nice hotel.
