I was put up here while the guest of an organization in the Jamaica Plain area. There are no hotels around here, so this is really the only option. That might be one reason these people do not go out of their way to provide much in the way of service. But, first let me say that Dave, one of the proprietors is very nice and sweet.
But, the rooms are terrible and worn. One of my electrical outlets was smashed. The fan in the bathroom is LOUD and had no cover. The small shower stall was mildewy and was patched here and there in a sloppy fashion. The desk chair was so worn as to be gross. The bathtowels had brown and yellow stains. And the "drapes" were dusty and stained.
Also, this is a B&B, but they don't begin to serve breakfast until 7:30am! For most people on business, the workday starts about then. And if one has to get to meetings in the area, one is certainly on the road before then. So, I missed out on the breakfasts. One morning, I did have an opportunity to start by day a little later, but even by 8am there was no one around to serve breakfast.
I realize that most people in the world now have cell phones, but does that excuse not having phones in the rooms?
And, the TV service is bad. No CNN, no ESPN. Just a crapload of local garbage stations (with the exception of PBS).
Finally, the wireless internet service totally sucks. I could get about 5 min of reasonable connection before it would crap out. When I could get on, pages would take several minutes to load. Other times, nothing. I think if more than one guest, or the proprietor, is online, there is not enough bandwidth for other users. So, if you are here on business, forget using the internet unless you have 4G.
So, no TV, no internet, no phone, no reason to stay here.
I would not stay here if you have other options.
