“Sweet Home for three weeks”

I was so surprised by the comfort and cleanliness as well as the caring friendliness of the staff, from the maids to the front desk. This was the last hotel we stayed in during a medical stay. This hotel was close to our daughter's home in Neponset, so we stayed here. We got a medical rate again and that included cheery maid service, shuttles to the airport and local hospitals and to the local restaurants. We felt very comfy here, especially the spacious rooms with a desk for our computer and the lovely tv ,watching the playoff games. Breakfasts had some variety, a hot egg and sausage, farina, yogurts, lots of muffins, bagels, and waffle maker. A large screen computer is available to access the internet in the lobby...also a printer. Cafe for breakfast is handy for guests.

We had a good time here! It has a shuttle to the T at UMass as well, which was on time.

I was happy on my birthday, to hear Mike Miano sing while we feasted on steak tips at the Freeport Inn, too. if you need a souvenir, the Philips Candy House had lots to choose from. there is also a pedestrian bridge near the property so you can walk to Stop'n'Shop or to the CVS store down the road a little. There is a laundry one street up from Stop n shop and a great Wholesale Liquidator store where we found inexpensive luggage and other items. Ti the south, there is a Chicken restaurant and a great gas station for your car, called John's Shell, I believe. To the south, you have access to I-93 and to the north, drive into South Boston via Morrissey when the traffic is bad. Freeport Road will take you to the South Bay shopping Center if the highway is slow. I feel like I know some back roads now, so i don't get stuck sitting in traffic.

Room Tip: Pick a room that faces Morrissey Blvd since the subway trains run nearby on the east side.

“Friendly staff, good hotel”

The reason I selected this hotel for my stay was the shuttle service they offered - they picked me up at the airport and took me back & forth to Tufts Medical Center. The staff were very friendly and I felt like I was chauffered around the city. The hotel has a big grocery store across the street and two restaurants are within walking distance. A nice candy store is next door if you want to take some Boston treats home.

An unusual thing happened when the fire alarm went off during the night. The hotel staff handled the event with professionalism and the fire department was there to check on the situation (was a false alarm).

I would definitely stay here again if I wasn't going to rent a car. You could take their shuttle service to Tufts and then hop on the Boston subway system to go other places in the city.

Room Tip: Ask for a fridge and microwave if you need one.

“A Wonderful Surprise!”

I grew up in Dorchester, moments from this hotel and have since moved to CT. I am in town quite often but always stay with family and friends. I have been a frequent guest of all of the local affiliates: Philips Old Colony, Freeport Tavern, Phillip's Candy House - yet would never have even thought to spend a night or recommend the hotels. It was a fluke that I had a party right down the road, and decided to stay in close proximity. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, the comfort of the bed, and the overall enjoyable atmosphere of the hotel. I am always asked by people where they should stay in Boston. This is affordable, moments from downtown with access to fine and casual dining, shopping, and more. I will definitely be recommending the Comfort Inn from now on! And heck, may choose to stay with family less often?!

“Great Place, TERRIFIC Amenities but got no sleep”

This property is really nice. We had to travel to Boston Mass Hospital & this was recommended by the hospital for us to stay. The hotel was clean, there are so many amenities, the staff was nice & the continental breakfast was not just coffee & donuts like so many other places. But for some reason I just could not sleep, the beds seemed comfortable. There were not any loud guests or partiers, but I woke every morning exhausted. Other than that the place was very nice.

“NOT as bad as people say! Take it from a local.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Had to stay here two weeks ago for a night because the heat in my condo went out. I live about two miles away from this property, but honestly never even acknowledged it existed despite driving by near daily! It's tucked a bit back off the road, on a curve, so it's easy to miss.

FIRST off: Location. It is in the city of Boston proper, in the Dorchester section of the city. Dorchester is a working class area with a very diverse population; parts of Dorchester are undergoing serious gentrification and you can find some stunning renovated Victorians not too far from this Comfort Inn. The property is just South of downtown via I-93. It is on a major roadway, Morrissey Blvd, in a business district with some run down houses near by. This does NOT equal unsafe. It is not a fabulous place to stay if you want scenery or quaintness. Frankly, the curb appeal is awful. BUT, it is convenient to both the Interstate and public transportation -- not to mention Lambert's grocery, Dunkin Donuts, and numerous convenience stores. Lock your vehicle, yes. It's a major city, but among the safest of all major cities -- why WOULDN'T you lock your vehicle if there were valuables in it anyhow? I am at odds as to why someone would lower their rating of a property because of this.

The hotel is typical Comfort Inn -- appears to be renovated within the last 5 years. My top-floor room was immaculately clean, and had a sofa and wing chair in addition to the adequately comfy queen bed. The bed was no Westin Heavenly Bed, but it was better than the one in my home. Flat-screen LCD TV had all the usual channels, and there was a micro-fridge in the room. The breakfast was in the top half of complimentary hotel breakfasts I've had. Be sure to request a room on the FRONT side of the building. Otherwise, you may hear the rumble of the Red Line subway near the rear of the hotel. The Red Line stops running at about 12:45AM and resumes service around 5AM, FYI, so you won't have any noise issues in the rear of the hotel during the middle of the night.

Overall value for this Comfort Inn is an A+. Decent room, good location, convenient and good service for just over $100 a night in Boston? That is almost unheard of. I would recommend this place for budget-conscious travelers who are realistic in their expectations. It would be good for families visiting Boston universities, utilizing Boston-area hospitals, any people not afraid to use public transportation, and road-trippers looking for an overnight stopover. If you want a resort experience, look into the Seaport Hotel in the Seaport district and be prepared to pay $300 per night, $20pp for breakfast and $30 a night for parking.

Room Tip: Request a room in the front of the hotel to avoid possible subway rumble. The MBTA Red Line tracks a...
