“The only place to stay in Boston”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My husband and I love this inn. We visited last year and were blown away. We returned this past week, with high expectations, for a quick getaway. It was just as wonderful as we had remembered it. A romantic fireplace, jet tub, luxurious mattress and linens, breakfast delivered to your room. Our 18 hour stay refreshed us as if it had been an entire week vacation! We will return as soon as we can.

This is the only place to stay in Boston. We have tried other hotels with much higher price tags, and all fell short of the Charles Street Inn.

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely. Each has its own charm. We have stayed in the Olmsted, Henry James, and Ju...

We absolutely love receiving reviews like this! It's great to know we're doing something right and leaving our guests happy. One of our main goals is to be able to make time slow, but without the usual needed boredom and discomfort associated with slowed time.

We're ecstatic to know we might have had a hand in lengthening your 18 hour stay, and we can only hope to see you again and do it once more!

“Did not honor a confirmed reservation - Indifferent staff”

Title: Did not honor a confirmed reservation - Indifferent staff

We had a confirmed and written confirmed reservation. We were dropped off the hotel with lots of luggage because we were on an extended trip. The person at the desk informed us that they were full and could not honor our confirmed reservation. He was completely indifferent to our situation. When I asked to speak with the manager, I was informed that the owner was not available and would not accept calls on her cell phone. We eventually found other accommodations at the Liberty Hotel (a wonderful place, highly recommended). The Charles Street would not even pay for our cab to the other hotel.
I left my business card and asked for the owner to call me when she turned her phone on, to discuss what happened with her. She NEVER EVEN HAD THE COURTESY TO CALL ME.

I cannot be strong enough in my recommendation that you do not stay at the Charles Street Inn!

We're very sorry for what happened. I remember your reservation very clearly and still highly regret what occurred.

Unfortunately; your reservation was made on a day where our entire reservation system was being altered to a whole new one. We had an outdated system and were updating it to the most popular and common program among hotels today. While our system is great now, the transition was rather hectic and we actually ended up with two double bookings on that day.

We tried our hardest to contact both of these double bookings. We called the other reservation and managed to contact them and avoid any issues. We also called the number you provided at the time of your reservation, but unfortunately couldn't reach anybody. We called numerous times and left a message, but couldn't get anyone on the line, probably due to your being on a flight or something of the sort.

We're very sorry you had such an unpleasant experience with us and we do wish it hadn't occurred.

“Old world charm with modern amenities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

My partner and I stayed for one night while celebrating my birthday in Boston. Our room was wonderful, the antique furnishings beautiful. Everything seemed in good repair and well looked after. The staff were very warm and courteous, and we almost felt like old friends coming for a visit as we were shown to our room. We were given the history of the person the room was named for, and she made sure we knew where everything was and how it all worked. Breakfast in the morning was just perfect. The menu included a delicious Asparagus quiche along with a fresh fruit bowl, cereals, baked goods, juices and milk. Breakfast arrived promptly at our requested time and made a great start to the day! The location was easy to get to, just a 10-15 minute walk to a couple of T stops and the Boston Common, and the Museum of Science. The selection of shops, cafe's and bistro's around the Inn was overwhelming, and we are planning a return trip with enough time to explore them all! We will be recommending the in to all of our friends! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We thoroughly enjoy the inn. Been there a couple of times The staff is more than accommodating. Beds are extremely comfortable. Slept like a baby. Breakfast in the morning is fresh and delivered. What a treat! Fireplaces make it romantic and warm. Everything is easy. And beacon hill is a delight for walking shopping and dining. This is likely to be an annual visit for us. Had a ball. Adore the inn

Room Tip: All are great

“A Fairytale Dream Come True”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

If you have ever dreamed of being pampered and treated like a God or Goddess then you MUST stay at the Charles Street Inn. Luxury is at every corner: fresh flowers in the room, a spa tub with robe and slippers, your own well stocked refrigerator (complimentary goodies in the frig and out), a laptop to borrow (free wifi,of course) breakfast (organic) and the paper either served in your room or left with a discreet knock by your door, and not even last (and certainly not least), an authentic wood burning fire place in each room with plenty of logs to keep you cozy and wishing for snow. I have stayed at the Ritz and at many Intercontinentals but I prefer the Charles Street Inn to them all. Do not miss this hidden gem in Beacon Hill. If you stay here, you might opt for the Louisa May Alcott room, and, before you leave, you will be writing about your experience here just as she might have done in days gone by.

Room Tip: Try them all!
