“Very nice hotel, undergoing renovations, great service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

The Copley is an historic property that is undergoing major renovations. I am sure it will be a very good property when finished, but for the moment I rank as average. My room was great. I was told I was only the third guest to have stayed there. Though the sleeping rooms are good, the bathrooms are small (historic property). The service is excellent with good attention to detail and attentiveness. The downside is the hallways smell like paint, work is going on in very near proximity to rooms that are being used. The business "center" is open to the lobby so no privacy or real quiet. The Oak room is closed, but the St. James is a nice substitute. Drinks are expensive and short, for the price one expects a better pour. For a night or two of business travel it is fine, would not book a group. Give it 12 -18 months and I imagine it will be back to the Very Good range.

Room Tip: Ask for a higher gfloor and a room away from the construction areas.

“High cost but no service at all, not worth.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012 via mobile

We checked in 2/6/2012, 1st the heater was not working and the "charged & high-speed" WiFi was still charged and slow to no service. 2nd night, heater started to make loud noise at closed to midnight, 2 space heaters werec used to heat this 5-star hotel room, and WiFi still very slow to no signal. 3rd night, we finally switched to a different room to had a room finally have heat but the WiFi don't even work. They believed the problems were the setting on our laptop, iPhones, ipad, We finally met the manager (Patrick) only got an offer to use the computer station in this so called 5-star plaza hotel. Manager Patrick told us this paticular room, we actually were the 1st guests stay in , they don't know all the problems, (did I mentiom toilet won't flush properly also. )

All I can say is it is not worth to spend lots of money on this Fairmont copley plaza Boston, when it has no service. Totally disappointment。

很貴但是服務很差, 設備很差, 問題解決是無,

這座老式的旅館過去曾有各國總統級的貴客在這停留, 也有不少電影在此拍攝, 但是在其華麗的外表上, 也不再見到精緻的服務。

Hello and thank you for posting your feedback on TripAdvisor. I’m disappointed to hear that your recent stay was not a positive experience. Our hotel is in the midst of a $20 million plus restoration project, which includes a complete renovation of our 383 guestrooms and suites. Our first phase of renovated guestrooms is completed so we appreciate your feedback on your room. I’d like to take this opportunity to assure you that this kind of issue is being addressed. We take pride in being a landmark property and a symbol of Boston’s rich history. These renovations are not intended to inconvenience our guests, only to create an even grander experience, with more modern amenities and comforts. Thank you again for sharing your comments with us.

“Beautiful place, but little to offer asw a hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I stayed here on business because my client was also staying here. A beautiful hotel, but significantly lacking in many ways:

1. I arrived at 5pm and my room was not ready. I had to take a different type of room or wait up to an hour.
2. The hotel had gone through a recent renovation. However, the results of this were very disappointing.
3. For $280/night, my room had thin windows that did little to keep out noisy traffic sounds; no coffee maker; cold, slippery tile in the bathroom; no soap dish in the shower, so the only place to put soap and the shampoo bottle was on the floor.
4. The desk had a new, complex system where you could connect your laptop to the flat-screen TV for video, PowerPoint presentations, etc. In the desk was a packet with all kinds of connectors for that system, but no ethernet cable to plug into the connection. Yes, they have wi-fi, but it was a very weak, slow connection, so an ethernet would have been very helpful.
5. The fitness center was “closed for inspection”.
6. Only good thing: as a vegetarian, I seldom see anything exceptional on hotel dining room menus. However, the vegetarian pasta dish that I had in the St. James dining room was the best I have ever had.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

“Palatial public rooms, dire bedrooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Save your money and stay somewhere smaller, friendlier, and less cold and corporate. Yes the public rooms are something to behold with Sistine Capel style painted ceilings, but the staff at all levels are indifferent and unhelpful. The bedrooms are very dated, quite cold, poorly cleaned (look under the bed) and vastly overpriced.
When I pointed out that the safety certificate on one of the elevators had expired no one was remotely interested, which just about summed this place up.
You can do much better for much less in Boston, see trip advisor for details.

“Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Stayed here in January 2012. Trash on the room floor, bedside light didn't work, thermostat broken, fire drill at 11PM and no apology from manager to whom I complained the next morning after a sleepless night. This hotel is turning into a dump, and no one in authority cares.
