“Good ... But not for too long”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

I stayed there for one night with my boyfriend and a friend of ours.
For sure, the price is good considering the fact that your close to the Fenway, to the bus/metro and the center of town.
The bed are ok ... but the bathroom ... I cannot believe that students are actually living in those rooms during the year !

I would go back there ... But only for the cheap price and location.

“unorganized staff, annoying check in, cheap price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2010

Stayed at the hostel alone for a week. Right down the street from a drug store and subway. Took the subway all over Boston, found the location convenient and I thought it was cool to see the huge line around the block for the Sox game.
Upon check-in I was told my room was not ready and I needed to come back in an hour or to(this was also after their advertised check in time). I took my luggage which consisted of a backpack and small rollaway suitcase and walked down the block to sight see. I returned in two hours and was told by a different staff member my room would not be ready and I needed to come back. I complained that I showed up on time, already waited two hours with all my stuff and would not wait any longer. They offered to let me put my luggage in a back room with out security and I declinded and basically demanded my room. They charged me and said my room was not guarenteed to be ready and they were sorry but had no idea somebody had already told me I could not be let into my room. I get my key and take the elevator up to my room which looks fine. It was a plain college dorm style room with three beds and a bathroom. I chose a bed, put my stuff under it and went out. I returned to find a roomate on the bed across from mine. A day or so later a third roomate joined us. Both girls were friendly but very quiet and kept to themselves and both were traveling from other countries. I had no problems with cleaniless, noise or theft. I found the rec room near the lobby to be overpopulated with noisy teenagers and decided to either go out or stay in my room at night and read magazines. For a hostel it was pretty good and very cheap. I saved a lot of money. I wish there had been lockers ad had been advertisted to me and a better experience checking in. For the hastle and the fact that I was being charged by the day the staff should've knocked $25 off my bill and didn't.

“Cheapest stay for a physicians' conference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2009

Attended a 3 day conference for doctors, and the hostel provided an awesome (read: affordable) place to stay. It's a converted old Boston University dorm, and the rooms are old, but they're NOT dirty, and the rest of the provisions (sheets, blanket, towels) are standard fare for hostels, which is to say they're fine so long as you can live without silk and extreme fluffiness. The proximity (as others have written, 5 min or less) to the Kenmore T station is great (gets you anywhere you wanna go), and it's not that far to walk to Boylston St and a lot of the active street life in the city. I was fortunate, too, that my floor was quiet on the 3 nights I stayed.

I had no problems w/ checking in (arrived at 3PM) or out. Other than that, I didn't deal much w/ service (trash was emptied once out of 2 full days; window unit AC didn't work great, but didn't need it). I know that for a private room with a private bathroom, I paid the LESS than several of the nearby hotels charged for 1 night, and I slept just fine. It's too bad the Red Sox were away during my stay (as others have written, it's definitely walkable to Fenway Park), but that might be a reason to return some day.

“Not bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2007

me and my friend stayed at this hostel just right before 1 week ago. we've been to Boston while the weekend. but it was not that easy to find a good accomodation because Boston's hotel price was quite expensive. but we were both student, so we decided to stay at the hostel.

but we didn't want to stay at the dormitory, so we make a reservation of a private double room. the room charge was also not that much bad when compared with hotel. we just paid less than 50 dollors for one night per one person. it was around 80 dollors per one night, but we had to pay a reservation fee and some a little amount of charges. but still, it was not bad.

we could use our own bathroom, and the room was not that bad for staying there as students. but the room was a little bit cold, and there was no fabrics for the bed. they just provide us one blanket, one pillow, and each of one pillowcase and flat sheet for sanitation.

but it was only 2 nights that we had in Boston, so we didn't have any complaint and were just satisfied with having a room for that price.

and the location was also fine. it was just less than 5 minutes from the Kenmore Sta., green line by walk. so we didn't felt any inconvenience in point of moving around Boston area.
