Travelling through NC on a budget road trip, this seemed to be the only old place left in town. It's a cute old place, maybe from the '40s, a bunch of small 2-3 unit stone cottages.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that there was maybe one other car, they stuck me in their worst room, a ground floor unit all the way to one side. For all I know, if might have originally been a carport for the units above. It was pretty threadbare, and the carpet was really grungy. It did have some nice wood paneling on one wall, but the effect was generally that of crashing in a poor student's basement efficiency.
For this privilege, I paid $55. Not a rip-off, but I've done a lot better for a lot less.
