Red Roof Asheville was a great place to stay. I wanted to see someone about a cough without paying hundreds at an emergency room. Susan, at the front desk, helped me find a place to go. She was kind and supportive. I stayed there for several days and loved the free wifi. How can hotels NOT offer free wifi? And Red Roof Inns are pet friendly. For a clean, basic room and good people, I think Red Roof has all the lower cost chains beat. I am definitely a fan.

We chose to stay here for a short vacation to see the Biltmore Estate. It is conveniently located off the interstate and about 7 miles from the Biltmore. Our room was on the third floor. It is an exterior room but was clean, modern and reasonably quiet. The staff ( the women at the lobby desk) was friendly and helpful. There is no free breakfast but Cracker Barrel and ihop are within walking distance. Wi-Fi was free although i had to call the toll free number to resolve a connection issue. For 50 bucks a night this is a good deal and we would recommend for a short stay of a few days.

I stayed here with my family over the summer. The price was ok and there wasn't much choice, but the reviews seemed nice enough. I felt the girl checking us in came off as disinterested, as if she had something better to do or just didn't want to work. The room was clean but reaked of smoke. They did change us to a new one without much trouble. I would stay here again if I had to, but wouldn't recommend it if you're planning a vacation in the area.

We had stayed here about two years back. Wife wanted to stay here I wasn't too keen, but eventually gave in given this was the only decent place left to stay on short notice. Didn't regret the choice as we got the room facing the city/food joints this time around. Room was well kept and decent given the price. Asheville downtown is easily accessible from here so it really isn't as far as dear Google maps shows it. Lots of eating options considering there is no "complimentary breakfast".
The only issue we had was that for some reason our bathroom would start smelling of cigarette smoke every night, possibly from the person staying in the room above us, def not his fault. Bad HVAC. My wife wrote that in the feedback and some rep from Red Roof mgt replied back that they were in the process of fixing such issues and are further revamping the rooms with better upholstry etc. Hopefully its truly smoke-free on our next visit (oh yeah we will return to this place coz it was really fine otherwise). Hopefully you should have a better experience...
