“Really nice people, clean, comfy, and great value.”

I grew up in Asheville, and so I know the city pretty well. I'm spending a lot of time there to help care for my aging mother. The manager offered, before I even asked, to give me a terrific rate in and area where rates are tourist-high. My husband and I looked at a couple of rooms - they were clean and reasonably attractive with everything new enough. We stayed for three nights and were very comfortable. The breakfast is limited, but you can find something to suit most people. The large window and outside door open onto a nice little terrace that will be perfect in the fall and spring. I plan to stay here twice a month for many years (Mom's doing well!) and could not be happier with the prospect. Also, the manager offers a deeply discounted rate to families who have loved ones in one of the many hospitals - and it is conveniently close to most of the major medical facilities. And, again, everyone we met on staff smiled at us. That makes a huge difference in my book.

“very fine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

Noticed the negative comments of other travelers, but THIS motel has cleanliness, value, a nice breakfast, and anything desirable, in a motel that would be TWICE the price. No flaws that I noticed, and is close to many restaurants, etc. NO problems!

“don't stay here even if it is close to the Biltmore”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2010

this was a big disappointment ! first thing there was'nt any water in the pool. Then my friend was a costed by a panhandler in the parking lot before we even got our things out of the car.The hotel is old and depressing. Don' t look under the bed old pizza crust may gross you out. the bathroom was newer tthe only nice thing about it also they were really nice about returning our money . For the same price we went to the fairfield Inn. It was one exit down the highway. Well worth the drive . RJP

“Cheap, but you get what you pay for.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

I want to be somewhat nice because a) the front desk worker was extremely welcoming and nice and b) I booked the hotel without reading reviews on other sites, so it's partially my fault I was disappointed. Those two things being said, I was disappointed as soon as we pulled up. First of all, I would call this more of a motel than a hotel, a hotel being what I expected from the description. We don't like staying in motels because most of the time they are less secure than a hotel room would be (we like interior entrances, little chance of people wandering around the property, etc). Entry to the buildings was awkward. It requires a hard key to get in the door (and depending on which floor or section you're in, you might be looking at unlocking 3+doors) plus a card key to get into your room. We didn't like the look of the sliding glass doors and were somewhat thankful that we were on the second floor...until we realized that there is NO elevator. You have to haul everything up two flights of stairs...and remember you have to unlock all those doors along the way. We're young and healthy but lugging our huge suitcase, cooler and other bags up two flights after a 6 hour drive was not fun. We saw no indication of there being no elevator when we booked the hotel. When we got to our floor, we could tell the hotel had seen better days. We could live with that. The rooms were very outdated and falling apart...we weren't there to hang out, just to sleep so it was okay. The bed was ok. Even though it looked shabby in the room, it was clean, so I do give them that. The linens were also clean. The wifi did not work consistently, and that was one reason we chose the hotel. The hotel is located near a residential area, so we could hear dogs barking in the morning. All in all...if you're just seeking a place to sleep this would be ok but I would not recommend it for a romantic weekend, kids (it's just too complicated a place to deal with kids I would think) or for anyone with physical handicaps or special needs.
