As a last minute getaway for our family of four, we quickly threw together a weekend trip to Asheville, NC, to visit the Biltmore House and take in the sites. Booked the Comfort Suites through Hotwire at $43 a night. Our room had two double beds and a sleeper sofa, a desk, a flat-screen television, a small refrigerator, and a microwave. The bathroom was average for an older hotel. Free breakfast was your typical muffins, bread, bagels, jams/jellies, make-your-own waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereals (cold cereals or instant packets for hot cereals), fruit (bananas, apples, oranges, pears), juices, coffee, and tea. The surprise was that breakfast also included a few hot entrees - cheese omelets, sausage patties, and biscuits with sausage gravy. We didn't partake of the hot entrees, but it looked like several other guests did so. No complaints from this end - for $43 a night, we felt like we got a bargain. Close to the Interstate, adjacent to a mall, lots of dining spots nearby. I wouldn't recommend it for a couples getaway or a special weekend away, but for a quick family trip that was thrown together on a Friday afternoon, it worked nicely.
