I just had to write and tell everyone my thoughts of the North Lodge on Oakland. To me, there are three parts to a vacation: the anticipation, the trip itself, and the memories of that trip. Before we came, I would repeatedly log into the North Lodge website just to look at the lovely photos and read menus. Every time I looked at the rooms and that lovely food, I would just count the days. I just want everyone to know that the most wonderful part of the vacation was right there at the North Lodge. The memories of the beautiful music always playing in the background, the peace that pervades the place, the incredibly wonderful breakfasts, the conversations with Greg and all the other guests. Most of all the lack of “invasion” of the morning news blaring through the television. This is my best memory…one that I will always cherish. The Biltmore Estate was beautiful and huge, but congested. I was glad I went and will return for the flowers in the spring or summer. The Grove Park Inn was nice, big but really just another hotel with six large fireplaces. After a long day of sight seeing I enjoyed coming back to my oasis, the North Lodge which is what one needs on a vacation. I had a wonderful trip and will be returning very soon.
