“A Place where memories are made”

I just had to write and tell everyone my thoughts of the North Lodge on Oakland. To me, there are three parts to a vacation: the anticipation, the trip itself, and the memories of that trip. Before we came, I would repeatedly log into the North Lodge website just to look at the lovely photos and read menus. Every time I looked at the rooms and that lovely food, I would just count the days. I just want everyone to know that the most wonderful part of the vacation was right there at the North Lodge. The memories of the beautiful music always playing in the background, the peace that pervades the place, the incredibly wonderful breakfasts, the conversations with Greg and all the other guests. Most of all the lack of “invasion” of the morning news blaring through the television. This is my best memory…one that I will always cherish. The Biltmore Estate was beautiful and huge, but congested. I was glad I went and will return for the flowers in the spring or summer. The Grove Park Inn was nice, big but really just another hotel with six large fireplaces. After a long day of sight seeing I enjoyed coming back to my oasis, the North Lodge which is what one needs on a vacation. I had a wonderful trip and will be returning very soon.

“Great Stay”

We visited Asheville and stayed at North Lodge for three nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. Our room was the Carolina room, which we thought was the nicest (prejudiced to be sure!) Greg, our host, was the warmest, most cordial, interesting,,, and patient, as well. He is a wonderful chef and the breakfasts were exquisite!
The North Lodge itself is charming and located near everywhere we wanted to go. We have been to many B and B's and this by far surpassed any other. We are already planning a summer trip to Asheville and will most definitely stay there again!

What a Great experience at our stay at North Lodge. We stayed in the Marsh Room on the Third floor. The room was Great! The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Greg was a great Host. What a beautiful home. The breakfast was excellent and when I didn't want the poached eggs they had on the menu, Greg made me a fabulous Omelet. We can't wait to go back and visit!

“Wonderful, comfortable experience”

The Inn is easy to access, and very close to downtown but without all the traffic. Everything was accounted for and ready for us - parking, the right room reservation, snacks, drinks, a movie library, maps, tourist pamphlets, menus from local restaurants, comfortable rooms, a nice charm, and fantastic breakfast in the mornings. We went here for our "minimoon" the night after our wedding, and it was just what we hoped for. Greg is the inn keeper, and has just the right amount of service, but without being intrusive. A very pleasant man, and its obvious why he has gotten so many strong reviews. On top of all this, the price is very fair. We stayed there in October, the "busy" month (highest rates), and it was very comparable to any hotel (which would not be nearly the experience as we had.)

Room Tip: Only about 6-7 rooms, we had the one on top, which is a suite and has no other rooms on the floor. C...

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

I stayed in the Library which is a small room off the main floor. The room was cozy, comfortable and, as it's name indicates, full of books. The breakfasts were excellent and set the standard for my other B&B experiences - none have matched them so far. There was brewed coffee available, of course, at breakfast and at all other times via Keurig. Greg was a very gracious host and made me feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this B&B if you are going to the Asheville area.

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms.
