“Just say NO - this is a dustbowl”

This B&B was not a good experience. (I forgot to read TripAdvisor) We stayed 2 nights. The Inn was very hard to find and was not in the best neighborhood. The owners met us outside and helped us with our bags - good. They poured wine, stoked the fire and served a good breakfast. HOWEVER: the house itself was over 100 years old and could have had a lot of potential. They have not put any money into it. The furnishings were surely 50 years old, dusty and in disrepair - Good Will would not have taken these items as the fabrics were frayed, stuffing was coming out, the bed frames were wobbly and one sofa was even sitting on cones to get it off the floor. The mattresses were old and perked up with egg crate foam tops. The decor was a hodge podge, in spite of the attempt at an equine theme. WiFi was free but was only accessible if you sat in one spot on one sofa and held your tongue the right way. Our room advertised a private balcony - the second night we found that the way to our private balcony was through a door in the bathroom that had a towel rod on it. The door could not open fully as it would hit a shelf in the bathroom. The private balcony was actually part of the wrap around porch that had been partitioned off with a plastic garden lattice.......that was dangling sideways by one wire - the other one had broken. The partition didn't even go to the floor. There was no specified curfew, but the owner seemed miffed that we returned the first night at 8:45, so we apologized. Had we required a longer stay, we would have moved the first day.

Room Tip: TIP - choose another B&B

“Delightful Bed and Breakfast!”

What a lovely, rustic Inn. The view from the veranda is beautiful. The rooms are comfy and all have their own bathrooms. The huge fireplace in the main lobby is calling us back in the colder time of the year. The breakfast was very good and the host and hostess were friendly and full of information to help our visit in the Asheville area perfect.

“we're easy to please and even WE were disappointed!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2008

This place looks absolutely nothing like the pictures!! Our bed was horribly sqeaky, and we noticed it within the first 10 minutes of arrival. When we told our host he said politely but in these exact words "well you'll just have to deal with it." We tried to sleep for 2 nights until I woke up and booked us at the red roof inn. We left 2 days earler than planned because the squeaking was so terrible. (You could even hear our bed from outside! Imagine how it was in the room!!) Not only were we exhausted (I took naps during the day in my car to make up for the miserable evenings) but the host became very personally offended and treated us almost as if we were hostile until we left. (in order to be polite, we informed him that we would be leaving the next day.) He posted a note on our door that said exactly, "I'm assuming you will be checking out BEFORE breakfast."
As far as cleanliness is concerned, the lampshades and the plastic leaves and all the fake flower decorations were covered in very very thick layers of dust... and the "full spacious bathrooms" don't fit more than one adult at a time. We aren't a couple of Divas. This place was just a very bad experience. It almost ruined our anniversary. The Red Roof Inn in town, however, was wonderful.

“Charming, Affordable, Secluded”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2007

I had a great visit here. Booked it at the last minute but was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The first night we stayed in their smallest room, which was very cute (not the most modern stuff, but perfectly suitable and some would say beautiful) and the 2nd night, they moved us into a bigger room but kept us at the same rate - $98/night - cheaper than ANY hotel or B&B in town. Breakfast was DELICIOUS. The couple who runs it are adorable - old, wise, funny, and they take this thing seriously. The place is really quiet, secluded, but very close to town and other sites. I'd love to return on my next visit to Asheville.

  • Liked — The owners - so sweet.
  • Disliked — The common room has way too much junk in it (pics of grandkids, etc) but that has its charm right?

“Don't stay here”

Bridle Path Inn was dirty. We could see that at one point it probably was a lovely house, but it's definitely gotten away from the two people who run it. Breakfast was really good, and that's about the only good thing I can say. Breakfast is served at "8:30 sharp" and if you stay past 10:30 am, you get charged an extra half day. This was amusing since we were the only guests. These folks need to sell this place and retire! or at least stop having guests.
