“Charming B&B with stellar service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2010

My wife and I spent a weekend here for a Babymoon and had a wonderful stay. The house is charming and cozy, and the innkeepers are very friendly, accomodating and knowledgable of the area. Breakfast was delicious. We stayed in Rose Room 7, the smallest in the house, but got to view all other rooms and all were clean and lovely. Walking to downtown is possible but not appealing or recommended (approx. 2 miles on busy roads). The drive is quick and painless and we did it several times. We'd definitely stay again!

“Charm, warmth and genuine hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 May 2010

Mary and Jim made Oakland Cottage a lovely "home away from home" for our recent Mom & Daughters Trip. It was the perfect "home base" for our four day stay - an easy drive to Biltmore, gardens, downtown Asheville and surrounding mountain trails. Jim gave great help and advice in planning and purchasing tickets for Biltmore and a dining tour. The Safari Room was a pretty, clean, comfortable setting for our party of four, with ample room to unpack our things. The home-cooked breakfasts were wonderful. They went above and beyond to provide special food for one of our group members with dairy allergies. Their wireless internet was a great plus.

“Great place to stay for the whole family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2010

I stayed, along with my extended family and friends at the Oakland Cottage in September of 2009. My wife and I were married in Asheville that weekend and the Oakland Cottage was the perfect place for all of us to gather and enjoy. The entire staff is very friendly and made us feel at home the whole time. We really appreciated being able to use the house "a la carte" style for some of our stay. We loved being able to enjoy the home with it's remarkable front porch and beautiful rooms inside. We will always recommend Oakland Cottage to anyone visiting Asheville.

“Amazing!”

This bed and breakfast is absolutely adorable and in a great location. The Biltmore is less than a mile from it, and downtown Asheville is also very close. The breakfast in the morning was awesome, so so delicious. The service was awesome, the owner was more than willing to help us out with anything we needed. The only complaint we had was that the hot water ran out pretty quickly, but it is an older house so it's to be expected. I would definitely recommend this B&B!

“Perfect place for family reunion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2009

In mid June our family rented the entire house "a la carte" for our family reunion and we could not have been more pleased. There were 11 of us in 4 different family units and each family had their own private suite and plenty of room.

The location of the house is perfect in regards to the interstate, down town and the Biltmore area. We were just minutes from all three. There was plenty of parking and it was laid out so that we were all able to park without blocking some one else in.

The deck on the back and the front porch were both awesome. The deck was great for outdoor cooking as it was just outside the kitchen door and the front porch was perfect for just sitting around during the evenings.

The rooms were tastefully decorated and each one was unique. Each (suite) had its own bathroom and window air conditioner.

The common areas provided a great place for us to just sit and catch up on old times. All the furniture was nice and comfortable. The kitchen was charming and was about like you would expect to find in a 100 year old farmhouse. It was well stocked with dishes and cookware and all the appliances worked fine. The house had a washer and dryer for our use.

We rented the entire house for just over $500 per night. That sounds high but considering that 11 of us stayed there (and we had a couple of beds we did not use) it was well worth the money.

I am not big on staying at a bed and breakfast and don't think that I would like it but as we had the whole house it was different. If we go back to Asheville again and have a need for an entire house, we would certainly try to book this place.
