“basic, clean hotel, friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We stayed at this hotel because it was the cheapest 3 star rated hotel. It was fine, basic, and clean .Adequate, nothing more. The pool is teeny, the lobby is teeny, and overall unimpressive. It is located on busy tunnel road, near big box retailers and across the street from supermarkets and restaurants. It is not in the historic or quaint downtown, and is a hike from the downtown area. It does not give you the feeling of being downtown, where it is beautiful, lush with greenery and views of mountains.. It is not far from the Biltmore, and convenient if you have a car. The staff was friendly and efficient.

“Not Downtown”

The hotel was nice and what you would expect from a Holiday Inn. The staff was friendly and helpful but it was not an easy walk to the downtown area. A little over a mile and you have to go through a busy tunnel. Would not have been a problem in the summer or warmer weather. Overall would have stayed some where cheaper and further away because we ended up driving downtown anyway.

Thank You for reviewing our hotel. We re the closest Holiday Inn & Suites to downtown, within two miles of downtown. The reason we were given the downtown affiliation is to differentiate between the two Holiday Inns located on Tunnel Road. Once again, Thank You for your response and for staying with us.

We stayed here because of the close proximity to downtown and its reasonable room rates. The hotel itself is in okay condition. The front desk staff were not very welcoming, just doing their jobs sort of attitude. Our room was adequate, although it needed some upkeep, notably the peeling paint in the bathroom. There's not much available right by the hotel, just a grocery store and some not-so-great restaurants. You pretty much have to drive downtown for anything decent. We would've been satisfied with this hotel if it weren't so noisy. The doors are, by design, made to slam closed and make a lot of noise. So all night long, you will hear people coming and going because of the slamming doors, which was really jarring. I suppose your experience will vary depending on how quiet your neighbors are.

Thank You for posting a review and for staying with us. There are over ten restaurants within half a mile of the hotel, not to mention our full service restaurant and lounge at the hotel. All the guest room doors are deisgned to close automatically for the safety of our guest. I want to apologize to you for not feeling welcomed upon your arrivial. We will definately work with our front desk staff to improve. Thank You.

“Great location, beds like cement”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Super location to downtown, Biltmore, River Arts district. All very easy drives (not walking distance. Across from grocery store and near all kinds of national chain restuarants. Room seemed clean, nice size. Safe didn't work. Won't go back though bc beds are hard as cement. Front desk said some people love them but I can't see how. The floor would have been more comfortable. Seriously, there was absolutely no give at all.

Room Tip: away from elevator and ice machines (which are on 2, 4, and 6th floors

Thank You for staying and posting a review on our hotel. We take guest concern very seriously. IHG (Intercontinental Hotels Group) has some specifications on items we can and cannot use at the hotel. The beds are IHG approved item and we cannot use any thing other than that. Majority of the people like firm beds and rest of the people like soft beds. I am sorry that we could not satisfy you needs regarding the beds at our hotel and I apologize and hope you will give us a chance for your lodging need in future. Thank You.

“Stingy”

Hubby, baby, and I stayed here to attend a function. There was coffee in our room but no tea bags. They wanted to charge us $1.40 per tea bag! They did not replace the mouthwash that I had to toss because it was open. Nor did they stock the bathroom with a shower cap. Hubby is a preferred member and all we were given at check in was 2 bottles of water. We've stayed at many different HI all over the US as well as abroad and MOST times are given a little gift bag with cookies, chips, etc.
Also, the pool is VERY small. Not for swimming.
Overall, the location is decent NOT DOWNTOWN, the suite is spacious, clean, and the gym is doable.

First of all I like to thank you for your post. For your information, we have all aminities avaliable at the front desk (Mouthwash, Shower cap, etc) and we also have a sign in the bathroom which states that all these items are avaliable to all guests and are complimentary. As far as tea bags are concern, we are a full service hotel with a full service bar and restaurant and therefore we only have coffee which is complementary. To our Priority Club members we provide them with complementary water bottles and give them a choice if they want an upgrade or complementary breakfast but that is only avaliable to Gold and Platinum members. There are some guidelines which we have to follow and I want to apologize if it was an inconvenience to you. Hope you will choose us for your lodging needs in future. Thank You.
