We just returned (7-31) from atrip to Asheville , NC. While surfing the net, I happened upon a website for Asheville Oaks Inn & Pete's Cottage- "An Inn without the Innkeeper". Since we're a family of 6, we require a lot of space, but also like to stay at nice, interesting places. I ended up booking Pete's Cottage, and never regretted my decision!
The owner, Sherrye Perry, has done a wonderful job renovating the
apartment/garage into a cozy, yet luxurious place to stay. The living room
has a big screen television and wonderful over-stuffed "comfy" seating.
There are 4 bedrooms total (2 queens & 1 twin upstairs, 1 queen downstairs), three full baths (one with shower only), a separate dining room, and a small sitting/laundry area in the loft upstairs. The rooms were
small, but we weren't lacking for space. The cottage had many neat "inn" touches- m & m's & candy in decanters, a wide variety of teas & condiments, robes & slippers in every bedroom, spa-type bath products,
board games (which the kids loved), and videos. Sherrye has two Koi ponds, one between the main house & cottage, and the other behind the cottage. Those, coupled with the cottage-style landscape she has begun, make the area surrounding the cottage just as delightful as the inside decor. I really can't say enough good things about this cottage. It's located just down the road from Biltmore Estate, and is in a very quiet,
peaceful neighborhood. It's convenient to the interstate and just minutes
from downtown. If you want to stay someplace very nice, but don't want
to pay the $200+ per room at a B & B, I heartily recommend these
accommodations!
