“Weary travelers beware!”

We were traveling across the country from Utah, and had called this RV park a week in advance. We wanted to spend one month in Asheville because we were searching for a place to buy land. We inquired about their monthly rate and they gave us a somewhat reasonable price. We had been traveling all day and when we got there, the woman at the desk, who was also the owner told us she made a mistake and that the rate had changed to several hundreds of dollars more. Furthermore, she didn't want us to actually stay on the actual RV park but on her son's neighboring parking lot where he ran his electrical business. Very ugly! We have a brand new 39 foot motor home. She also said we would have to pay for our own electric bill as well. We were shocked. She told us to think about it, in other words, "take it or leave it". We said we would think it over for one night. Since we had to pull out of the RV resort to pull in to the neighboring parking lot, we suddenly got a revelation as we were pulling out. My husband looked at me and said "you want to just go?" and I said "heck yeah". That is the luxury of owning a motor home! I got the feeling that this women (owner) preys on the tired and weary. We just went to a different RV resort. Also, their web site add has a letter from trailer park magazine listing them as one of the top RV resorts in this country. The park is tight and not much to look at, I was surprised when we pulled in. I expected better from Trailer Park magazine!

“Convenient to Biltmore”

We stayed at Bear Creek for 3 nights and the people who run the campground were very friendly and helpful. It is conveniently located close to I -40 and as we were visiting Biltmore Estate is only one exit away. We weren't at the campground much during the day, but it was quiet at night and a nice place to stay.

“Don't go here if you actually want an outdoor experience!”

We are pop up campers and online this place looked good--especially since we needed to be in Asheville for a race and wanted to be close. The sites are cramped, there is very little open space and the backyard is I40. We were up the entire first night hearing traffic from I 40 and we could smell the sewer from the larger RVs. We got up at 6, packed up and found another campground that was MUCH better (Campfire Lodgings). If you are in an RV and can't hear anything because it is huge and don't care about being outside at a fire pit or enjoying some resemblance of camping, this is a great place. If you want ANY sense of camping or if you are in a pop up and can hear outside noise, don't go here. I should have listened to the reviews -- this is not great camping for those who actually want an outdoor camping experience. Our new campsite was still only 15 minutes out of town (Campfire Lodgings) but we had trees, mountains, a fire pit and peaceful surroundings.

“Better places to stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2007

I would stay here only for an overnight rest. RV's are extremely close to each other. The wireless internet is not so great. Hard to get a connection and when you get one you loose it quickly. The cable is iffy at best. There is no place for your pet to walk or take care of its business. Not a great place for small childern. It is just to congested and lots of road noise. The spaces have do not shade.
I don't think I will stay here again. There are other nicer places around this area.

“No internet connection-don't believe it”

The pool looked nice (a little too cool to use it), the showers across the way were nice(there are also some next to the pool but a little older condition), the laundy was clean but small. The cable TV connection was good. Our paved RV site (P3) was not level (slanted to the back).
Big rigs (we have 21' Roadtrek) need to be good drivers becasue the roads are not all that wide.
Biggest beef is the "Free WiFI". It comes and goes, mostly goes. We specifically asked about it when called to reserve and got the site closest to the office for a good connection. God help those with a bad location.
For some reason a lot of RV parks in the area charge for a connection and this park did not.
We paid $31 which is average for the Asheville location. We're headed to Cherokee NC area tomorrow, look for another review.
