This hotel is truly unique. Upon entering I noticed the public areas have an earthy, aromatic fragrance that is quite enjoyable with piped in jazz vibes. We loved sitting around the big fireplace having coffee in the morning. (What a wonderful surprise to find complimentary gourmet coffee available in lobby) We stayed in the main house, although I would not hesitate to stay in the manor house across the street.
Room decor lends itself well to the rich, lodge, rustic theme. Could become slightly claustrophobic if too many hours are spent in room with lower ceilings and one very tiny window. Room included Bose sound system and large, flat screen TV with internet access that allowed us to log in to our Netflix account and enjoy a movie. Bring your own bath salts/oils as the ones by soaking tub are for purchase for $20-25.
My husband used the fitness center which he reported as awesome.
Parking is $15 per day and if you are visiting Biltmore village walking is definitely preferable. It is not fun to keep getting the car in and out (valet) and parking is sort in short supply on weekends. As much as I enjoyed this hotel, I found myself bored quickly with Biltmore village and drifting back towards downtown area for more to do.
Ate dinner at the Red Stag and the food was wonderful. (see separate review)
