“Your dog can stay with you”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2010

We had a family party at the Grove Park Inn. Since our aging Golden Retriever has gotten pretty sick after her last two kennel stays, we took her with us. Honestly, it worked out fine.

Of course, this hotel is not the Marriott or the Hilton, nor would I expect it to be at the low rate that we paid. The Hilton was $169 per night plus $75 pet charge. Plus our dog weighs more than the 75 lb max weight limit. No deal.

After reading the other reviews, I was a little concerned, but the front desk was very accommodating. We asked for a different room because the first one had a mattress, rug and furnishings that were worn and dirty. We ended up in Room 107 which had a new mattress and was quite clean. The bathroom was spotless.

The hotel was very quiet. It was an easy drive to the Grove Park Inn, Biltmore Mansion, Asheville Mall and Ingles grocery store. We walked across the parking lot to eat at O'Charley's. The room was large enough to fit the dog's bed and she was very comfy.

Overall, it worked out fine.

“A great value close to downtown. It's a basic affordable hotel.”

We found this room on Priceline for $70 when all other hotels in the area were over $100, way far away from downtown or had really bad reviews. I wasn't expecting anything special for the price I paid.
Here's what I look for when I book a cheap no frills hotel: Is it near where I'm going?- Yes. Is the staff friendly & helpful?- Yes. Is it clean?- Yes. Does the AC work? -Yes. Can I sleep here comfortably?-Yes. Is it noisy?- No.
So it met my criteria. What was special about it was how accomendating the staff was. I got into town at noon and called the front desk to see if I could check in early. The girl on the phone said I could. We we got to the hotel there was a college age girl at the front desk. She was so super helpful and nice. We were in town for Oktoberfest, so we didn't want to be driving, so we left our car there. The girl called a cab to take us downtown.

The room was nicer than I was expecting. I knew it was an extended stay and had a stove, microwave, fridge and dishes that all come with one. Since I booked the room, my wife didn't know and was surprised at all the extras that were in it. I liked that the bathroom was large and well ventilated. I also liked that everything from the tv to the airconditioner/heating unit worked well.
For the price, I might stay here again in the future.

“Once again, ESA was wonderful!”

Staff is always courteous, helpful, and cheerful. The rates are good. The fact that they have a full kitchen is a big reason we love ESA. And these motels are always VERY CLEAN. That means so much! Love ESA properties! We try to always use them where ever we travel if at all possible.

“This is a great place to stay, great prices, nice and clean with good amenities.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

This is our second stay in an Extended Stay America Hotel and we just love it! Now whenever we travel to stay in a hotel I try to find an Extended Stay. It's clean, service is friendly, and great rates! We love having the option of being able to use the mini-kitchen with an almost full size refrigerator and freezer, a two burner built in unit, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, sink and counter top to work on. It is so much nicer than when you stay at a regular hotel and have to keep all of your food/drinks in a cooler and eat off of paper plates. They even have dishes, flatware, glasses, coffee mugs, and several pans you can use.

The two hotels we stayed in were in a very nice, quiet neighborhood with restaurants nearby. If you want to get the most for your money and don't care if the hotel doesn't have a pool, I would recommend this place.

“STAY AWAY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

As a frequent traveler I am used to normal problems at hotels and usually do not post negative reviews unless I encounter major problems. I understand that sometimes things can go sideways for one reason or another. In this case, I feel obligated to warn everyone about this property. The Owner/Manager must be aware of the condition of their hotel and they are choosing to do nothing about it. You need to know that if you intend to book there. I have never stayed at ETA but I picked it because it was pet friendly and my friend was bringing take out so the kitchen and table would make it a perfect place to eat and hang out. The girl at the front desk was nice enough. I got to my first room (136) and could only stand the smell for about 30 seconds. It was beyond disgusting. I went back to the desk and was given the explanation that construction workers staying there kept smoking in the rooms. I was given room 223. Ah....room 223...where do I start??? I should have listened to my gut when I opened the door. My head said forget it…let them keep my money; this hotel is not for me. I would have walked out but I had a dog with me and my friend on the way. So 223 it was. The sheets were so threadbare that they actually had holes in them. The box spring that was so stained (and torn if you can believe it), it was hard to determine its original color. The carpet was so filthy that the bottoms of my white socks were brown and nasty within 30 minutes. The stink was horrible! Cigar? Cigarette? Pet urine?? I have no idea but the combination was horrible even after I used air freshener and lit my travel candle. The walls were paper thin and I heard every move, bump and bang the person above me made. The pillows were a joke only the joke was on me when it was time to try to get some sleep. I slept with the light on, btw. The toilet backed up twice. The first time I was "lucky" enough to have the front desk girl bring me the plunger...I think they bought it at the dollar store because it was the flimsiest thing I had ever seen, not exactly perfect for hotel use. It was given to me in a long, thin paper bag like someone had used it, put it in the bag, it dried and now they were handing it to me. I was so grossed out about the room that I made sure to keep all of my bags zipped tight and was out the door in the morning before my alarm went off. I didn't bothering to take a shower since I think it would have made matters worse. The lovely chair someone mentioned was only used to hold the filthy bedspread and blanket. My friend arrived and asked if the hotel was actually a “crack house“...and that is a direct quote. He had is small dog with him but was hesitating to even let the dog's feet touch the carpet! It was embarrassing. I could go on, no wi-fi, filthy elevator...and I mean filthy, old TV that kept flickering. It was just BAD. When it came time for bed, I seriously considered leaving and driving the 4 hours home. This was the worst hotel I have stayed in since I was in my 20's and could only afford $35 motels. Beware of the planted reviews for this place since they obviously are not true. Special thanks to the rep at Hotels.com who recommended this dump! I will be posting this review on their website as well….and anywhere else I can.
