My 18 year old nephew and I were traveling for his fall break from college and doing a tour of western NC. WE found the Days Inn in Woodfin a great fit for our budget and desire to be close to downtown Asheville. Just 12 minutes from downtown it was easy to get in and out whether in the daylight or after dark. It took longer to find a parking place in Asheville than it took to drive in from Woodfin. (Basically you just stay on one main road.) The room was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. It's a bit tricky to find the first time as it's up a hill and a bit hidden, but that made it quiet and free from a lot of traffic. On the way out of Asheville to the hotel there is a lake (on the left going out) where I drove to to go walking one early morning while my nephew slept in. This was lovely. Breakfast in the lobby was minimal, but enough to start the day with - juice, coffee, instant oatmeal or grits, bannana or apples, gravy and biscuits.) Brueggers bagels is along the road out or into Asheville for an easy filling breakfast. There are also some big grocery chains to stock up on snacks enroute. Our room was right next to the outdoor pool which looked like it would be refreshing for a dip (rather than real swimming) in warmer months. Front desk people were friendly and helpful. We ended up spending three nights here for the price and location. This would be a great location if one is visiting UNC Asheville.
