This Holiday Inn Express was dirty in some places, like no one ever cleaned those parts such as the elevator, the corner of my room and the alarm clock should have been clasified as biohazards - absolutely filthy. I had no trash can or tissues in the bathroom - weird. I threw the trash on the floor. The service was similarly spotty. It was easy to check in and get items I had preshipped but then I went out in the early morning to get something to eat and load the car and when I came back the doors were locked and inaccesible with my room key. I beat on the door but there was no one at the desk. I called and got an answering machine. I had to go without a coat and other things I needed for the day - unacceptable.

Decent hotel, decent breakfast offerings, good location. Had problems several times with the room keys not working, which they said has been happening since the hurricane. We paid for a junior suite (not cheap) and rented a newer movie one night for $15.99, we fell asleep during the movie and asked in the morning if we could watch it again and not pay a 2nd time - the front desk checked with the manager who said NO. Unexpected minor disappointment for our family, gotta say, expected a no-brainer "yes".

Tried to stay here but clerk said they do not accept American Express Gift Cards. I had $100 on cards and was paying the balance of $50 with my Mastercard. She said oh we can't take them because young kids use them to pay for rooms and trash the room then they have no contact info to make them pay. Tired and weary from travel we didn't feel like driving around to find another place and politely asked to speak with a manager and there was none. We asked if she could call a manager and she said no that wasn't possible. She was trying to be nice but there was a clear attitude that she just didn't want bothered. We are in our late fortys and respectable looking polite adults. In this economy we were shocked this clerk did not have the proper training to make a rationale judgement and let us stay since they had my regular credit card. We went down the road and found a lesser expensive hotel under $100 who gladley accepted the gift cards and all I had to provide was my driver license which is SOP for most hotels.

Always happy with Holiday Inn Express hotels. Always know what you'll get. Service was terrific. Room clean. 0 issues.
