“Skip if you can afford better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

I was running over budget on hotel stays so picked this because it took pets and was really cheap. We were traveling with another couple. We did not get the type of room requested even though we had been very explicit on wanting 1st floor kings and had followed up on them. The staff was not rude, but we just did not get the rooms requested.
The hotel is an old Ramada Inn. The grounds were mowed. The hotel looked seedy in the hallways. The rooms were clean. No bugs. The sheets clean. No ice bucket. The only working ice machine was on the 1st floor. (The 3rd floor was dark and looked deserted. We were looking for a working ice machine from the 4th floor). The hair dryer did not work in either of our rooms. Really cold air conditioner. Plenty of towels but they were very thin and rough. Walls were thin but not being to near the freeway there was no traffic noise to speak of. We could hear the thumping from the band at the bar across the street. I was not interested in the pool, but it was large and looked ok from the room. There was a microwave, frig, and big tv. The breakfast didn't look all that appitizing. We went elsewhere to eat. I would not recommend an extended stay but for a quick overnighter this would work. Next year, I think I will try somewhere else though.

Room Tip: Don't worry about room tips. You aren't going to get what you request.

“Adequate Budget Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2008

This older property fills a budget minded traveler's needs. Hot water, cold A/C, microwave, mini-fridge, and softer older beds were in our room. Bathroom did not have a working exhaust fan.

When pulling back the sheets, there were a couple of hairs, but the sheets looked and smelled clean so we did not leave. The room obviously had been cleaned, albeit rather sloppily. Front desk attendant was very pleasant and helpful but forgot to program our room key.

Cellopane wrapped muffins & danishes were available to guests in the am.

  • Liked — Location near I-10 and price.

“Very Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 April 2008

We were here in town due to my husband's work and we really enjoyed staying here. After staying at several hotels all across the United States, this one was really up to par by all means! They desk clerks were young, but very polite and willing to help in any way. The managment seem to have everything under control! And the house keeping worked till late at night to make sure the rooms were in really good condition.
I have two young children, and I didn't feel harmed by no means! They made sure the place was definitely locked at all times, and you had to have a key to get back to the hotel rooms.
I really felt comfortable staying here, even though the surrounding areas were a little rough. It is right off I-10 and some random people walking around, assumingly homeless, but they never bothered anyone.
My family and I stayed in one room the entire month in a half we were in town and we really liked it. I didnt see there suites they had to offer, but I heard they were really nice!
I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

  • Liked — The staff was really polite and would go out of there way to help you!
  • Disliked — Probably the homeless people. They never once were a bother, but some people think otherwise!

“Clean, Quiet, & Cheap”

Our stay at the BVI was just peachy. We didn't have any problems at all. We booked a non-smoking king bed for $50, we got a spacious room with high speed internet access (free), tv, all that. Had a little table with two chairs, perfect to check your email from a laptop or have something eat. The bathrooms were clean and the bed was comfy. It was a great experience.
