“Impeccable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Impeccable. That pretty much sums it up but just in case you want more specifics than that, here's a very long run-on sentence with my thoughts. From the staff, the lobby decor, the restaurant, the high tech business center, the room decor, the glass enclosed elevators (they zipped up and down briskly, never had to wait for one more than a few seconds), the room door "fast pass" key (never saw one like it before), the bathroom pocket door (which gently finishes closing itself if you don't), the wonderful (and healthy) food in the Haarth Restaurant, to the food and drinks in the lobby bar, absolutely everything was impeccable. We knew we were in for something special from the moment we checked in and the desk clerk walked us to the elevators and punched the button for us (instead of the normal: "it's that way"). The staff continued to wow us throughout our entire 4 night stay, indeed, they were absolutely impeccable. At one point I asked our waiter how to spell the word "IMPECCABLE" because I realized this should really be a one word report. The staff simply didn't miss a trick in making our stay way more than memorable. Also, the hotel decor is breathtaking. The restaurant has its own bee hive for fresh honey and grow their own vegetables (and even Stevia). They offered the normal breakfast juices but also some honest to goodness tasty healthy choices like carrot juice, banana/soy and a pear/kiwi/broccoli combo. For Pete's sake, who does that? They really seem to go way overboard in the attention to detail category. If you would like to experience the very best in service and modern decor, in my opinion, this is the spot.

Thanks for the great review. Our guestroom renovation will be completed in early April but as you pointed out all work is done during the day - 7 days a week, not just weekends and is sectioned off so our guests are never disrupted.

Appreciate your feedback and we are so glad you enjoyed the restaurant!

“Washington DC bargain”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

This recently-renovated hotel is located just off 495 and next to the Hilton headquarters in Tyson's Corner. Everything is ultra-modern and sleek. Our room rate was a great bargain compared to other DC suburban hotels. The Harth restaurant is one of DC's best and located inside the hotel. Some rooms are still under construction, which was not going on during our weekend stay, but might be a factor at other times. Great heated pool with lifeguard and a very nice small workout room next to it.

Room Tip: A room off the central atrium will have less traffic.

“Excellent all around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I took a business trip in January, and fortunately this hotel was chosen as the place to stay. The interior decor of both the lobby and my room was elegant, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, and my room was clean and spacious.

I really liked the interior decor. If I had to describe the decor of both the lobby and the rooms, I would call them "modern elegance." The only issue here is that certain seats in the lobby were not as comfortable as others, but I did not allow this to affect my rating because there were other available seats that were comfortable.

The treatment you receive from the hotel staff is always one of my top concerns. From the moment I checked in, the staff were all very nice and helpful. When I checked in I did not have my Hilton Rewards # in hand, but the lady at the front desk tried her best to make sure I did not forget to come back down and provide the number so that I did not lose out on my points. At one point the heat in my room was not coming in even though the thermostat was set to blow heat into the room. This wasn't a big deal for me, but I wanted to point it out. I stopped by the front desk, explained what was going on, and there was a maintenance man up in my room within 5 minutes, and the problem was solved in another 5 minutes. The lady at the front desk was very apologetic, and made sure she gathered all the information that I could provide about the problem. Lastly, I needed to get copies of a few documents for a conference. I did not see a copy machine in the business center, so I asked the front desk if they had a copy machine so that I could copy my documents. The lady at the front desk happily copied my documents for me.

I found the room to be very clean and spacious. As far as cleanliness, I did not encounter a single thing that made me think I was staying in an unclean place. As a matter of fact, everything in my room appeared almost new. I thought my room was very large. I had a king-sized bed that still left a ton of walking room on each side of the bed. Keep in mind that not all rooms are the same though. The room one of my co-workers had was a bit smaller than mine, but I still thought his room was a good size too. The bathroom was a good size as well. The only thing worth mentioning here is that you may have trouble taking a shower if you are extremely tall. By extremely tall, I mean over 6' 5" or so. I am 6' tall, and it seemed as though the ceiling was maybe about 1.5 to 2 feet above my head. Don't misunderstand; I was able to comfortably take a shower, but I could definitely see a taller person having a tougher time.

Overall, my stay here was excellent, I would gladly stay at this hotel again if I visit the McLean area again. The decor of the lobby and my room are elegant, the staff aims to please, and my room was more than large enough. If this hotel fits your personal budget, I think you will not be disappointed by choosing to stay at McLean Tysons Corner.

“Fabulous find!”

I am so picky when it comes to hotels and this one exceeded my expectations! Service was great, and the restaurant food was amazing .... so rare for a hotel. Decor in the rooms and public spaces is beautiful, trendy but appealing. It was recently renovated, and since the Hilton headquarters is next door I heard that they get a lot of top executives staying in that hotel so they went all out to make sure that it was really top notch. Will definitely stay here again, a true 5 star experience!

“great hotel - excellent stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

First, I don't give 5 stars to any hotel as that makes it seems like it is perfect and no hotel is perfect - but this comes pretty darn close!

the service was excellent - from the front desk to the bar staff to the staff in the restaurant for breakfast in the morning, very accomodating, very polite and sincere. we had a 1.5 year old baby and they were all very helpful.

room was excellent - huge king bed - we requested a crib and they set it up in the room beforehand and it was extremely nice.

bathroom was excellent, great shower, could have stayed there for hours.

food was also good, breakfast was great and the flat breads the night before also good.

if you are a gold/diamond member, excellent perks: 2 bottles of water, free internet, free breakfast and free appetizers during dinner in the bar area.

i'm almost tempted to give it a five star review,...
