“Nice rooms, attentive staff, but bathrooms need a refurb...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

I do like this hotel and have stayed here a few times... the rooms are a nice size and they are clean... the staff are also very friendly and attentive... the biggest downside is the bathrooms... they are small and not up to the same standard as you would expect at a Crowne Plaza... I always seem to get a bathroom that seems to have been squashed into the room and also one that has a lot of caulk smeared all around the bathtub that looks like a 5 year old completed the job ;-)

The hotel is very convenient for the offices around here but not inexpensive...

All in all, no problem with this hotel, but if they read Tripadvisor.com I hope they will look at bringing their bathrooms into the 21st century! ;-)

Thanks for listening...

Hello floridabrits,

We definitely read TripAdvisor and your note has been heard loud and clear!

Thank you for also noticing the room size and lovely décor-we recently renovated our guest rooms. We are addressing the issue of the unprofessional caulking job in the bathrooms and our Chief engineer is retraining the team. We greatly appreciate your feedback and we look forward to seeing you back at the hotel sometime soon.

Thanks so much for your business!

“Home away from home”

I travel to the DC area and stay at this hotel at least 3 weeks a month. It is my "home away from home". The staff is exceptionally accomodating and extremely friendly. The shuttle drivers are fantastic. The proximity to shopping and restaurants is a plus as well. I recommend this hotel frequently.

“If you must stay near Tyson's corner, try this place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Former Holiday Inn, still in great shape. Short walk to malls and convenient if you need to go as far east to Arlington or further west to Reston. Bar is comfortable but not many folks there. No free coffee Except in your room. A minute walk to one of the best steak restaurants , Flemings. Book via Priceline or hotwire, great rates

Dear Trailerguybob,

We couldn’t agree more… we are very lucky to have such a great location in the heart of Tysons Corner. It allows for easy access to all of Northern Virginia, as well as downtown DC. And being right next door to Fleming’s Steakhouse is a nice perk, as well!!

We’re glad you had a chance to stay with us and enjoyed your visit. And just for future reference, those great rates are not only on the third party websites; try booking direct on crowneplaza.com next time. You’ll find all the same great rates, but with the advantage of a best price guarantee, a fully secure website, no booking fees, and a guaranteed room type!

Thanks so much for your business and we look forward to serving you again soon!

Sincerely,
The Crowne Plaza Tysons Corner Team

“Great for shopping, swimming, dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

We paid $10 more for a quiet room on an upper floor. The hallway was very quiet, but we could hear laughing and talking through the adjoining door to the next room. Bring earplugs just in case. The staff is wonderful, the food is good, and the bar is fun. The mattress has a thin pillowtop, but the sheets and duvet are very soft. Furnishings are great for work or pleasure, although the rooms and windows are small. The bathroom is nice, but bring your own toilet paper if you are senstive to roughness. We enjoyed lap swimming in the large pool, with an atrium and tree-size living tropical plants. The pool was not very warm, but we got used to it. Lighting was very low, and the air temperature was cool (not much heat). The jacuzzi jets are so strong the water gets into your eyes and nose, but it's fun. You can feel safe because there is a lifeguard. The chaise lounges were well padded and comfortable. Parking is no problem. We shopped at Tyson's Corner Center across the street and thoroughly enjoyed that huge mall. There's a great area for kids near the movie theater with a train, large play area and eatery. We skipped the Tyson's Galleria with designer shops.

Room Tip: Pay $10 more for the "quiet" floor to avoid partiers in the hallway.

Hello EllKell,

What a thorough and detailed review!?! Thanks so much for taking the time to write it.

We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay and were able to take advantage of our great location near the Tysons Corner Center mall.

Also, thanks so much for the feedback about the pool temperature; we will definitely look in to that as a chilly pool area isn’t always the most comfortable situation.

We are looking forward to the next time you are in the area and we have another chance to serve you.

Sincerely,
The Crowne Plaza Tysons Corner Team

“An excellent staff lifts up an adequate property.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

Stayed at this property for an on-site business meeting. The hotel is located in the dreadful quagmire of Tyson’s Corner across from the Galleria. About the only reasons to stay here would be business in the area, or possibly to shop. For DC touring, there are better situated properties. This is an older property and our room on the ground floor behind reception smelled vaguely musty, perhaps from proximity to the pool. (As Priority members, we were told we had been given an “upgraded” room, so I wonder what the basic room looked like.) Bed was too soft and the thermostat was wonky. Nonetheless, the room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom large. Bath amenities were not remotely luxurious so don’t expect L’Occitane here. Shuttle service was provided across the street to the mall and (I believe) to the metro station. We had room service twice (exceptionally good) and had the breakfast buffet twice (perfectly serviceable). They gym was airy, clean, and modern. Where this hotel truly excels, however, is in excellent service. The staff could not have been more warm, professional, or accommodating. It easily lifts the quality of this property from a 3 to a 4, and for that reason, we would not hesitate to stay again if business brought us to the area.

Hello MizLiz,

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a thorough review of your experience.
We must agree… it is a little hectic and confusing around Tysons Corner right now due to all the new construction and changing traffic patterns. However, with all this growth in Tysons Corner comes a lot of exciting changes, including a brand new Metro (train) line that will be running right through the heart of Tysons Corner. And we are thrilled to say that our hotel will be right in the center of all the action and within a two-minute walk of one of the new Metro stations.

Having said that, we are so happy to know that you found our team to be warm, professional, and accommodating. We know that our service is one of the only things that we can fully control, so we pride ourselves on providing the best service excellence in the industry.

We hope to see you again soon when you are next in the Tysons Corner area so we can have the pleasure of serving you again.

Sincerely,
The Crowne Plaza Tysons Corner Team
