“Comfortable. Not value for money.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2009

We stayed here in Jan. 2009 for 2 nights. There were 5 of us - 2 adults and 3 children. Had been travelling for 2 weeks and wanted some space and a bed each for the children. They were sick of sharing a bed. We also wanted to be close to shops.
We stayed in unit 5, so can only comment on that unit. It was clean and comfortable. The unit was on the top floor with a small verandah out the back.
The carpet on the stairs leading up to the room was a bit thread bare.
The light in the stair wasn't working at first, but owner fixed it.
A note on the door said our room was unlocked and that the key was in the door. However, this was not the case and no-one answered the door on the office when we knocked. Had to ring the owner, who said she lives off site and was sorry she forgot to open the door and leave the key for us.
I was led to believe that breakfast was included in the price, but the only things in the kitchen were a jar of flour and a jar of oil. No bread, eggs or milk.
Owner didn't seem to be on site when we were there.
Needs curtains on some windows and thicker ones on others as it was a cold winter when we were there. The unit seemed cold at first, because of lack of window coverings. However, once we worked the heating out it was very cosy.
It was good to have the space after being in hotels. It is in a good location, walking distance to the shops, restaurants etc.
The unit is in need of a refurbishment.
Not sure if I would stay there again.

“I wouldn't stay here again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2007

First, the good part. Spacious, clean bathroom and kitchen, linens were clean. BUT. you get what you pay for. The carpets were filthy. The furniture was from 1984 and not particularly clean. The kitchen is not well stocked nor is it organized (would it kill the owners to buy a matching set of silverware and a tray to put it in?). The back "patio" was unusable because of two angry looking chows (dogs). They are obviously furnished courtesy of local yard sales and thrift stores...if you have a downstairs unit, you can hear every bit of what's happening with the elephant herd upstairs, if you're upstairs, it's blazing hot. I never saw the person who was running the place. Just notes on the office door. No housekeeping "every other day." The breakfast was restocked, but request your bagels. When we arrived the "everything" bagels and the blueberry were mixed together in one package. Ewww.

“This place is a dump”

Spend more, and don't stay here. This place is dirty, and gross. The beds (all of them) have got to be more than 20 yrs old - so uncomfortable. The service was terrible. The floors creak horribly, the plumbing leaks (kitchen and bath), the carpet is falling apart, and the blankets look like they haven't been washed since they were put on the beds in 1980. The hot tub was amazingly pretty new and nice, but it was barely bathtub warmth. The only thing I can say positive, is the location. Only a block from the center of town, but I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me.

“No improvement in two years”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2005

I went to the Westwood in April of 2005.
It has not improved since April of 2003.
It was dirty and decrepit. Some of the
furniture was broken.
Blankets had holes. One lamp had no switch
and no bulb. It was nice to have a deck outside
the kitchen door but there were 5 bags full of trash
right outside the door.
There was only one person on site to handle everything and he was too busy
whining about how overworked he was to take care of
problems. He was otherwise congenial, giving good
advice on sightseeing in the area.
It is well situated and it's nice to have a
kitchen (but only after I personally scrubbed the
kitchen floor).
Truly, if Moab has a health dept. I doubt this place
would pass inspection if it were ever inspected.
The bed was comfortable enough and the bathroom
worked fine. Very poor value for the price.
I would not consider returning.

“no housekeeping service, no food...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 April 2003

Stayed at the Westwood Guesthouse for a week. Room is spacious with kitchen. However, only the first day was there food in the refrigerator. It was 2 bagels and 3 eggs. The bagels were from a year ago. Who knows how old the eggs were. They advertise that there would be food available every other day to make our own breakfast. Also, housekeeping service was suppose to be every other day as well. But in an entire week, housekeeping service happend only once. The trash piled up so much we ended up dumping our own trash into the dumpster. We also ran out of toilet paper.Complained to management. Heard hired help has since been dismissed.
