“Old, but reasonably priced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

We stayed at the Apache Motel this October and last. This year we stayed for 8 days. The Apache was built in the 30's or 40's and is now a "historic site" (that's the reason the owners give for not updating the place!). It's four blocks from the main street, but if you like to walk or bike, it's very convenient. The rooms are basic but decent, certainly not luxurious. The place does have it's problems (like the windows don't lock), but overall it's a good place to stay if you don't mind it being a little funky. We love Moab so much that we don't mind putting up with the little inconveniences. Plus, there are two really friendly cats that came to our door every morning looking to play with our dog!

Owners were not friendly. The blanket was dirty. We have found a bug on the bed. The breakfast was just waffles.

“John Wayne Was the Only Interesting Part of This Experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

My husband and I had booked 2 nights at this motel which was built in the 1950s. I thought it would be rustic but did not expect a humdrum motel. We came to Moab one day earlier so had to change reservations. All that was available, at a high price, was an old mobile home for the first night but we took it since we were far away and did not know what else would be available. The motel owner told us that most places were booked solid. The mobile home had torn and filthy couches in the living room where my husband put towels on top of before he could watch tv. The walls were old paneling and the carpets were filthy. There were 2 bedrooms (we only needed 1) and the toilet moved each time you used it. It was behind the motel and the porch roof was loose. Totally unappealing. The next night we were put in the motel for our original reservation. It was so-so but certainly cleaner than the mobile home. The pool was not used by anyone and while the water was clean, the liner looked dirty. As my husband said, this must have been the ONLY place in town when John Wayne stayed there. The breakfast consisted of waffles or cereal.

Room Tip: There was a suite upstairs where John Wayne stayed when he had his family with him or another room...

“A Pleasant Stay and a Bargin”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

Our motorcycle trip brought us to the Apache Motel in Moab for a three-day stay. The motel is older and off the main street but it offers a great bang for the buck when compared to the city’s other motels. The room was adequately spacious with a separate dressing area, large bathroom, and a microwave and fridge. The bed was comfortable. We did not use the pool, as it seemed to need a good vacuuming.
The staff of the motel was very accommodating and helpful. Sharon recommended several restaurants and a visit to Dead Horse Point, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our motorcycle trip. The waffle breakfast, made by the staff was very good too.
Recommendation: make a reservation. The Apache is an excellent value for the price. Every night we were there, the Apache was full. Other motels in town were running vacancies.

“Great value retro place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011 via mobile

We were recommended to stay here and will recommend others to do the same. Very charming retro feel in and out. Room good sized and clean. Nice quiet spot but within reach of central Moab. Breakfast a bit meagre. Don't stay here if you don't like old slightly odd places. If you do then you'll love it!
