“Once was enough”

We booked a weekend during a road cycling event with the idea that when we were not cycling we could relax. We concur with many of the previous reviews that the proprietors are neither charming nor friendly. Despite our event schedule we found the check in time inflexible. We found the pool cold. Breakfast is served at a strict time with no flexibility. If you must start your day early, expect to forfeit your breakfast in its entirety. We were concerned about the over night security of our very expensive bicycles to which Dave's sole solution was his garage he assured us he locked every night at 2am when he went to bed. This after he tersely informed us that under no circumstances would bikes be kept in a room. I understand the intent, but could have done without the tone. On the upside, the grounds and rooms were well decorated and clean. However, when we pay more for a privately owned b&b or inn we expect hospitality capable of making some accomodations. I could think of several alternative solutions for every issue but these owners clearly would not or could not. We won't recommend the Dreamkeeper to anyone and with so many places to stay in Moab we don't have to.

“Good for a short stay....owners not very friendly”

We stayed at Dreamkeeper Inn in May for over a week. It was impeccably clean and very well decorated. Peaceful atmosphere in quiet neighborhood and great breakfasts. Caution- it was May and we had some cool evenings and opened our sliding glass door to let cool air in the room. The thermostat stays on about 78 degrees and you have no air circulation if it does not come on. I got very uncomfortable many nights and made for a bad night's rest. The hostess, Kim, reprimanded me in a punitive way for accidentally leaving our sliding glass door open one day. This type of behavior from her was also expressed by many other guests we met. It is a shame. Dave seems nicer, but the atmosphere of this lovely home is ruined by the attitudes. As previous reviews have mentioned, do not expect real friendliness from the owners, especially Kim. She can be downright rude. I also felt as if I were in someone's home and was not welcome oftentimes. My husband felt the same. We dared not ask for anything out of the ordinary! You must sign up for breakfast, and don't forget or you won't get any. The pool at this time of year was heated and we wondered by what, the sun? It was very cold, like a competition pool, but let's face it, this pool is for leisure. When we went to get in the hot tub there was no water in it. It had been drained that day, supposedly, by the owner, because "no one was using it". We had unusual storms when there, so what were we supposed to do those nights, get in it in the pouring rain and lightening? Kim said it was getting too hot for the hot tub. If you check the May weather, you will see nights cold enough to wear a sweatshirt, so this is not logical. I really felt like I was at a boarding school when there. Also, we were to have Wi-FI in our room and could not get it. We had to go outside and sit near the office to get it. Some other guests we met had the same problem. My recommendation is not to stay but a few nights to make sure you can deal with the owners and see which advertised amenities suit or are available, because you may have wished you had booked a hotel or gone to another B&B if you stay longer.

“Sweet Dreams at Dream Keeper Inn”

It is always interesting to go back and re-read reviews after staying somewhere to compare what was said to what was experienced. This was a wonderful place to stay. We booked the Mesa Room. It was the largest of any B&B room we have stayed in to-date. The rooms, common areas and grounds were immaculate and well appointed. All the rooms except the Tree Room open onto a patio/courtyard with a pool and a very spacious backyard. Plenty of tables and chairs for relaxing and lounging. The room refrigerators were the best working of any we have encountered. I like my stuff cold and it was and even the little freezer compartment worked well. Bonus! The Inn is conveniently located to the attractions and is within walking distance to most of the restaurants and shops.

The main negative in several reviews center around the Innkeepers, Dave and Kim. Were they the most attentive and "bend over backwards for you" Innkeepers that we have ever encountered? No, but neither were they unattentive and unappreciative. Dave was very welcoming when we arrived and pleasant when we saw him every morning. Both he and Kim made a point of visiting with us before we left even though they were in the middle of a breakfast seating. It does seem that Kim is the behind the scenes person and does not interact much with the guests, but so what? I agree that they adhere to a routine (which isn't necessarily a negative); so if you are looking for a place that is going to cater to your every whim, this is not the place for you. For the 5 nights we were there, every room at the Inn was taken and from visiting with the others, we did not find anyone that had anything negative to say. A previous review said they run this like a business and not as a labor of love. I would probably agree with that statement, but what is wrong with that? Just be aware of this and you will have a most enjoyable stay. We would not hesitate to recommend Dream Keeper Inn and cannot wait for a return visit.

“Lovely, as long as you don't expect any special accomodation to your needs.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2009

We stayed here for three nights. It is a beautiful location: nicely decorated, comfortable room, wonderful pool and hot tub, really attractive grounds. Within walking distance from town in a quiet residential neighborhood. They have good breakfasts and snacks at night as well as lots of maps, and area info available. The restaurants that Dave recommended were also all very good (we ate at three of them). As some previous reviewers stated though, you need to be aware that you cannot request anything outside the routine. The woman sitting next to us ask if they had any cereal (her husband obviously didn't like the dish being offered), Dave said rather strictly- "No, I don't have any". And that was that. They offer three breakfast seatings 8, 8:30, 9 and no coffee offered before the time you choose. If you want to leave early to hike, just be aware that you won't have breakfast. Kim, literally said one word to me the whole time we were there- and that was "Hi"- after I said it first. But I remember her being pleasant when I made the reservation: I think, similar to a restaurant, she handles "the back of the house" and Dave the front. All in all, you will probably enjoy your stay as long as you recognize upfront that this is not an "accomodating" B&B. I think for them, it is a business, not a "labor of love".

“Excellent and enjoyable!”

Indeed after having read all the negative news on Tripadvisor, we even considered cancelling our stay at the Dream Keeper, and were also a bit apprehensive when we arrived.
How happy we were that we went and hadn't cancelledt!!
The B&B was the best we stayed at during our 3-week trip, and we only stayed at the number ones of Tripadvisor!!!.
The host was accommodating, but not overbearing. The hostess we only met briefly when leaving. But it's nice to be made at home without having to chat with the hosts all the time.
To start with the rooms ( we had 2) not too big, but cozy, comfortable, clean and good beds. The bathroom really nice and big.
A livingroom only for the guests ( the hosts live elsewhere on the property). A small, but nice pool with sufficient chairs and spots to sit and relax and a beautiful view of the mountains. Nice breakfast (lots of fresh fruit), and 3 time choices when you could have breakfast. Hurray not obliged to be present at 8.30 on a holiday!! . And very important it is quiet, which cannot be said of Moab itself.
There is a courtesy bar which is well stocked and cheap and tea and freshly baked yummy cookies at 6.
Conclusion, either the hosts have learned a lot, or the reviews were unfair. We were happy that the pool and hottub close at 10 pm, because then you as a guest can enjoy the peace and quietness of the place,
