My husband and I decided on a last minute "get-away" and decided on Bayfield, Wisconsin to stay in for the night. We chose the Bay Front Inn from the internet. The reservation was easy. Check in was easy. The staff was courteous. The room was AWESOME!!! The view was FABULOUS!!!! We had a huge room. It took up the entire front, upper level of the building! Jacuzzi tub. Two private balconies, accessible from sliding glass doors. Gas fireplace. Fold out couch (if it was needed) and coffee table, two separete tables with four chairs in their own alcoves, two Queen beds, dresser, one bath with tub/shower. The price was spendy, but less than $200 before taxes,,, but for us, it was worth getting away. We didn't want to leave. We loved it and plan on staying there again in the future. And definately would ask for the same room. Downside,,,, our room isn't handicap accessible, if you needed it to be, but there are rooms that appear to accomidate for that. Parking in the rear affords easy access to the rooms. Wonderful coffee, juices, and muffins, danish, and scones for breakfast. Located in the office/gift shop. Free to guests. Easy access to their dining facility and bar. Also, we stayed in the cool of Autumn, so the windows were shut. In the summer, I don't know if it would be loud from the restaurant/bar down below. But there appears to be AC if needed in the summer. It certainly was't a problem for us. You would never know the restaurant was below the room, there was no problem with noise through the walls or floor. All in all, you will probably love this place as much as my husband and I did.

Stayed at the Bay Front Inn for a weekend and I hated to leave. The rooms were cozy and nicely decorated. Most of them have private decks with a great view. Their fresh bakery in the morning is to die for! They make it fresh in their restaraunt and it is complimentary to guests along with Victor Allen coffee and juice. The staff at the Bay Front was very friendly and accomodating. All rooms are non-smoking, however for those of you who do smoke, it is allowed on the decks. Their restaraunt, The Pier Plaza has great food and also great staff....everyone is so friendly. They have a Friday night fish fry - all you can eat consisting of fresh Lake Superior whitefish and trout and a variety of sides. Off street parking is also a plus. It's in the perfect spot, across from the Ferry Landing and across from the city dock where the Apostle Island cruises depart. They have "Pier Suites" which are above the restaraunt...we didn't stay in one this time but looked at one when we got their. They are roomy and very nice. They have fire places for the colder months and some of them have a separate bedroom...great view from your deck....and jacuzzi's. I would recommend staying here if you are planning a trip to Bayfield!

A room with a deck overlooking the lake turned out to be a deck on the street looking at two buildings with a slight view of the lake. The toilet dripped all night and by morning did not flush at all. When the manager/owner came ot fix it, he was very angry and rude and said "someone" turned the valve. I indicated to him that we did not touch anything, to which he replied, "I never said you did." After he left, I took a shower only to be standing ankle deep in water due to the water not draining out of the tub. I flushed the toilet and it would not stop running. The floors were filthy. We were fortunate enough to get a room at a different, very clean facility with a real view of the lake. The owner's wife offered us a bottle of wine as an apology. They refused to reduce our room rate, even though we had a room with a non-usable toilet and I refused the wine. Very Bad Experience. Dirty room. Rude owners.

All the rooms in the Bayfront Inn face the biggest lake in the country, Lake Superior. The Bayfront Inn is more like a motel than a hotel, but I think most of the "hotels" in the area are. The room was clean and cozy, with a private deck, facing the lake. The bathroom is a little small, and the sink isn't in the bathroom, which is nice when someone is taking a shower and someone else needs the mirror and sink. The Bayfront Inn is within walking distance to everthing in Bayfield.
