“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Great Bayfield location. We stayed in a king room, no jacuzzi. Room had a private balcony overlooking the lake. Room was very small; it had a small frig and microwave, renovated bathroom & sink; sink was located in the room, not in the bathroom. No coffeepot in the room, a very basic continental breakfast and coffee was available in the motel office. Small offstreet parking lot at the rear of the motel. Room was very clean. Comfortable stay within walking distance of restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: Rooms with smaller room numbers are located on the upper level.

“Amazing view, OK room, competitive parking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

In most locations, the Bayfront Inn would be just adequate, and therefor overpriced. The room is like every motel room everywhere, at least every updated room in every legitimate chain - Americinn, most Radisons, Holiday, etc.
But these rooms, especially those on the upper floor, have private decks which are across the street from Lake Superior. The sunrises are incredible. It's fun to watch the ferries going in and out to Madeline Island, and to watch the other tourists cruising the waterfront. You are a minute from that ferry for the don't-miss ride to Madeline. You are surrounded by good restaurants and shops. You are just down the hill from the best orchards in the Midwest. What could be bad?
Well, the parking. In the summer, especially on weekends, you are competing with the diners and drinkers at the popular restaurant next door. If you are coming to Bayfield, it is likely that you are toting your bikes or your kayaks, and you may not feel good about your bike rack sticking out into a busy driveway being used by drinkers in pick-up trucks. I left a mirror on the bike, and it was not there the next morning. Who steals bike mirrors? Even on a weeknight in the off season, I had to back into a small space to ease the bike rack between two air conditioning units. So, definitely, take a look at this place, but bring bike locks.

Room Tip: Upper rooms. Otherwise, save your money and stay further from the lake.

“Great place and wonderful weather”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2011

We had a nice stay here, , friendly people abound in Bayfield and here is no expection. The rooms are pretty small but all you need in a "cozy" way.The view from our room was outstanding, the cofee and a sweetie in the morning was very nice to have. Parking is a premium so one car is all you should bring. The beds could stand to be replaced as they are getting a bit soft and there is not much in the way of storage in the room, Sort of crammed in oddly to fit. We found a way to make it work nicely for two and would come back here again. We did find it odd that there was no phone, but we had a cell so it was okay. We had a small problem in that the Jacuzzi part of our room did not work and felt we should be refunded the difference, which was eventually what happened but at first the owner seemed to either think we broke it or something, which we did not. On the way home we recieved a call that we would be refunded the difference for both nights of our stay, which we thought fair. Would have been nice if it was handled a bit better but maybe she was having a challenging day. All in all, stay here, it close to shops and has a fantastic lake view and great help.

Room Tip: up stairs rooms have the best views

“Perfect Location!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

This hotel was much better than I anticipated. The room was updated, and looked recently renovated. Our room was located over the front office with a great view of the lake and ferry service. We were in room 2. Everything in the room was updated, nice, comfortable beds, extremely clean. We have absolutely no complaints whatsoever about the room or its condition. The Wi-Fi was hit-or-miss. The front desk was aware of the problem.

I've read other reviews of rooms that are over the bar/restaurant. I can see where noise could be bothersome.

The front desk staff was absolutely wonderful....very friendly.

They offer a nice, basic continental breakfast. And, by the way, the homemade cinnamon rolls with the mountain of buttercream frosting are to-die-for.

The restaurant next door is great, they have fresh ingredients and local, if possible. The shops are cute. We took a ferry to Madeline Island. Tom's Burned Down Cafe is definitely worth a look, and maybe a beer.

Room Tip: Request a room with one of the private balconies, overlooking the water.
